Elections Special: Sniffing Congress victory, turncoats change colour
With the exit polls predicting victory for the Congress in the State, several estranged leaders are making a beeline to Gandhi Bhavan - the party State unit office.
They are also making it a point to address press conference with the sole aim of making their presence felt.
Some of them recently made serious allegations that the Pradesh Congress Committee leaders had sold party tickets. But, now they treat it as a thing of past.
Before the elections, some of them joined Samajwadi Party and Telangana Janata Party while others encouraged rebellion in the party against their own party candidates and those belonging to the party’s allies.
Some leaders went to the extent of announcing support to independent candidates against Congress nominees in the elections while others contemplated floating of separate outfits.
Former minister K Keshava Rao was among the dissatisfied leaders who met at former Congress leader Shiv Shanar’s residence and levelled allegations against the party leadership. But now he is busy praising the party after he was appointed official spokesman.
Former minister DK Samarasimha Reddy who, after a vain bid to join TDP, tried to contest elections on Samajwadi Party ticket. Now, he has become another spokesman of the party.
Other Congress leaders like Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, M Kodanda Reddy and M Sridhar Reddy, who raised their ‘voice’ before elections and stopped coming to party office for some time, are now frequenting the Gandhi Bhavan.
Another senior leader M Baga Reddy who encouraged rebels in Medak district on Sunday made a surprise appearance at the Gandhi Bhavan.
Former PCC president M A Aziz, who visited the party State office on after a long gap, tried to remind the newspersons about the posts he held in the past.
