Pawan Kalyan’s Gudumba Shankar has taken an extraordinary opening all over Andhra and in Chennai, though the film carries mixed reports. But trade analysts are insisting that the film is a flop as collections are dropping day by day. In Guntur area, the film has collected a whopping share of Rs 60 Lakhs in a week.At Chennai’s Casino theatre where tickets were priced at Rs 100 and Rs 70, the film has grossed an amazing Rs 11, 52, 440! The message is loud and clear- Pawan has as good opening, as big brother Chiranjeevi. His fan base is solid but the bottom line is that unless the film has a basic storyline it will not be a hit. Inspite of the great opening, the fans have vanished and there are no repeat audiences for the film as they have not appreciated Pawan in a comedy role.

First of all, you have to understand that it is coming from a Chiru fan and not a Pawan Fan. (my wife is a fan of PK and JRNTR, hence we went). Yesterday, we saw the movie GS in Virginia. GS and Arjun have some similarities in the sense that both started off with a mixed talk, both are considered routine stories with a different presenation/narration. After I watching the movie, what I conclude is that both are timepass movies (Arjun with a touch of excessive violence and GS with a touch of overboard comedy at places). Both Mahesh and Pawan performed VERY well. Aaram se "Chalta" both movies. GS 2nd half chala bagundi. In any case, both are popcorn/timepass movies, feel-good movies. Glad to know that both are raking in monies in India and Abroad despite the mixed talk both have gotten.
