there are asking for the whole city to be evacuated mama so even if you want you cannot go in and help because you don't know when each building is going to collapse and you don't add more people to the death count. |

I have listened the radio interview of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin. His whole interview is just a point blank shot to US administration. Even in crisis his every word is matured and speaking for the cause. transcript: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/02/national/nationa lspecial/02TEXT-NAGIN.html

I see lot of difference between the way of handling things in India and in US when it comes to disaster. In India no matter what all sorrounding states respond with lots of relief work and individual participation rushed into the affected areas as soon as possible. I dont know except those NGOs helping out the amount of individual and other state's help is almost ZERO. I may be wrong since here in US people donate money sitting in the desk though internet. But the BIG question is what is the use with this money when you can not save life immediately and rescue people from dieing because of no water and food and strcuk up in water? I see a helping hand is way better than donating some money which is used later. Now those who blame Indians and Indian central and state governments should think twice before counting on them on the way of relief operations takes place. The problems India faces is rehabilitation and reconstruction and settlement after disasters. Here in US it is vice versa. |

I have not seen a single instance of Indians getting affected by this storm hit last week. What happened to them? They have been moved out early? What about students studying in those states? Any news? I am concerned about them too along with the Americans facing the worst situation of their lives being in this so called world's one of the best civilized country wiht super powers. |
