Business layer is simple objects which handles you business logic. Like say if you are developing for insurance company business layer can have all the object which will implement business logic such as the amount of insurance and checking for eligibility and so on.
DataLayer is the layer which actually handles your persistence & retrieval of data from the datasource. Means you can consider that the objects in this layer purely have data persistence code.
Now the advantage of having separate layers for presentation,services,bussines components and data components is to isolate the dependencies as much as possible so that you can replace one layer componenets with different type of implementation. Without effecting any changes in the upper layers
For example by separating dataaccess components to another layer you can change the type of datasource you are using by implementing the new dataaccess components with new data src without changing other layers. This is the advanateg you get.
Ila chaala concepts unaayi mama hope you know about design patterns so adi choodu u can know clearly what are the best way to architech/develop a software.
But in real time lo u have to sometime take an approach of meet in the middle kind for few cases. |

I prefer to maintain different layers for Business Logic and Data Access. This however depends solely on the size of the application and the requirements. |

You can still use the layered architecture to achieve the results. But instead of using ur custom objects to pass data between layers, you can pass the data through the datasets which are disconnected. |

he says we have to use the datasets and other features provided by MS as they are, forgetting the SE principles of binding between data layer and app layer.....
i say we need to still maintain the layered architecture to achive better results.....so better write the data layer seperatelu and use the business objects to connect data and app layers
