Its not mandatory to learn mercury tools. knowledge in these tools will give you extra boost. I cant say you will get a job immeadiatly since you know these tools.
If you want to settle in QC field these things you need to take care....
1.)What is testing?
2.)What are the different types of testing?
3.)What are the methodologies used in each type of testing? (especially in Black box and white box testing)
4.)What are testing metrics
5.)QA principles followed
6.) Defect reporting and tracking structure
If you know these things then you can start hunting.

i have mercury load runner: vugen, controller, analysis material
the things that u mentioned, can they be found in the material that i have.
