Another approach... Open Enterprise Manager console... and try to register the new SQL server... provide IP address of SQL Server name and in the next GUI select database level authentication and provide the username/pwd for the database u want to browse. now u can see all available DBs in that sql server hope am clear |

If you do not know the Db name, do one thing... Am assuming that u know the server namee. Try to set up a DSN.. during the DSN creation, it would show all the DB names available inthe server.. hope it helps you... |

Nayak mama, I want to access databases from Query Analyzer tool. The databases are not on my box but lying on some servers in my office. I am connected to Office Network(VPN). How will it know all the SQLServer databases available. |

If you want to access from an application, u need to set up the DSN in your machine |

AW mama... are u using SQL server 2000 Enterprise Server? If Yes, you have to open SQL Server client and provide the server name and DB name and try to connect.. there is no file as such like tnsnames.ora in oracle... mama eppudo work chesa SQL server meeda thappu aithey manninchu... KIKIKIKI |

Connecting to office from Home thro VPN. Installed SQL Server on my Home Computer. How do I see the databases existing at the servers in Work. Is there any file which contains that information similar to tnsnames.ora in Oracle |
