He is here to stay and here to win games for india.
Laxman has had a roller coaster ride in international cricket so far. He has battled the odds and fended of pressure, bad vibes and bad form admirably and emerged stronger. His talent needs to appreciated and his contributions to the success of Team India in recent years applauded. He has quietly gone about his business which is probably been his biggest disadvantage in a team studded with superstars, but Laxman the soldier continues to fight and win |

Only batsman who is always criticised when ever he fails, forgetting his heroics.
The soft spoken man from the South has not allowed obstacles come in his way. He has allowed his bat do the talking, clearly he is a man who is here to stay whether he gets the appropriate support or not, the sheer weight of his runs and his countless back-to-the-wall innings have become an invaluable asset for Team India. After his brilliant ton the normally cool Laxman blurted out, "There is always pressure on me. It was unfortunate that I was not there in the one-day team and also there were some negative vibes going around about my inclusion in Test side." It reflects the sad state of Indian cricket.( |

India was blessed with the famous holy trinity for most part of the 90's comprising of Tendulkar, Dravid and Ganguly. They were touted has the creator, preserver and destroyer with the inclusion of Laxman and his heroics in Tests it became the fabulous four but more often than not Laxman has been unlucky to miss out on the big ones coming into bat behind the holy trinity. Short of partners Laxman has often been forced to play a rearguard innings or has had to shield the tail. The Hyderabad batsman has even opened for India in Tests which speaks of his commitment but is anyone in the Board or the team bothered? |

Silent at crtics never retarded thats rthe reason for his present state, no godfathers.
Laxman has often courted controversies engineered by someone else. When he was selected the Wisden cricketer of the year in 2002, former Test umpire Dickie Bird went on record to say if he was given a choice he would have opted for Matthew Hayden and not Laxman. Laxman has never retaliated but taken criticism in his stride probably that's the biggest reason for his longevity. The tenacious Laxman has often had to play a bigger innings off the field which is a great petty. He has no godfather in the game to take up his case which is part of the reason why he is in this state today.( |

Always a crisis man
The Wisden cricketer of the year has added many feathers to his Test cap but the fact that he has been in and out of the squad still rattles him. Laxman has been branded a Test player but his ODI track record is equally good. He has cracked six centuries and ten half-centuries in 85 ODIs. His ODI innings have often gone unnoticed, his fabulous 107 against Pakistan in the series decider at Lahore in 2004 is a case in point. The ODI series was tied at 2-2 with everything hanging on the crunch game at Lahore. India had made a solid start but both Sehwag and Tendulkar were back in the hutch, the situation was ripe for Laxman to seize the initiative and he left nothing to chance. He hit Shoaib & Co. all over the stadium bringing up his ton in just 98 balls which included ten hits to the fence. His heroics helped India to record a comfortable 40-runs victory but not too many people remember his contribution in the historic double triumph in Pakistan when Team India clinched both the Test and ODI series. sheer zonal politics
The Aussies have often wondered how a man as talented as Laxman can be left out of the ODI squad and not treated with respect. Blame the board for it, blame the players and blame zonal politics, had Laxman been an Englishman or an Aussie he would have been gladly lapped up by them. Laxman has hit eight Test centuries which also include twenty-two half-centuries. The fact that he has been allowed to play just 64 Tests in the last nine years speaks for itself. It's time talent and hard work is respected.( |

very imp factor here
Laxman's superlative 281 against Australia in the historic Kolkata Test helped his talent to be recognised. But there is more to Laxman than that one innings - he has often bailed India out of trouble in seemingly impossible circumstances. The man has already scored eight Test centuries, five of which have been scored abroad. This includes two centuries and a double against World Champions Australia when they at their prime. The fact that he has scored runs against the No-1 bowling attack both at home and on their soil makes Laxman very, very special indeed!( |

VVS Laxman has always been a marked man. The man has undoubted talent which no one can dispute but he is always under the hammer, his every move is scrutinised, his every shot debated probably more than any other batsman in Team India. It's hard to believe the stylish 30-year-old Hyderabad batsman made his Test debut way back in 1996 against Hansie Cronje's South Africa. Laxman has always been the crisis man for India but often it's the same reason why he is often dropped from the team when he fails to live upto his reputation and given "bad vibes" by his teamates. |
