MAA TV Bans Chiru and Mohan Babu's Speech
Instructions are given not to air the speeches of Mohan Babu and Chiranjeevi anymore as they may ignite further rivalry among film fraternity.
The speeches attracted the attention of many as they are rare. While Mohan Babu's 'open talk' raised curtains for inside stories, Chiranjeevi's emotional speech surprised everyone.
Adding to this, KS Rama Rao took initiative today and called for Press Meet this evening to clarify certain issues relating to Vajrotsavam. The Press Meet is going to be held this evening.
We have to wait and see what interesting things that KS Rama Rao would say.

Mohan Babu Questioned Why Only MAA TV?
The hangover of Vajrotsavam is still 'On'. Many impressions are coming out through various inside reports. The fresh talk is as below.
Mohan Babu questioned why the satellite rights of Vajrotsavam Function are given away only for MAA TV. He raised the point that the rights were simply given away for MAA without calling for tenders.
"MAA TV bagged for Rs.1.5 Crore. If all channels were called for tenders someone would have even bagged at Rs. 10 Crores", expressed Mohan Babu.
When Mohan Babu was said that he was going to get felicitated as celebrity but not legendary, he took that serious and started arguing.
Pawan Kalyan also intruded in the argument as per inside reports. Sources say that Pawan Kalyan and Mohan Babu fought with verbal bombardments just a day before the commencement of Vajrotsavam only on this issue.

Dasari is Sakuni and Mohan Babu is Duryodhana
The fresh Platinum Jubilee scene is pumping creativity among many folks. A blog elucidated the Vajrotsavam issue comparing with Mahabharatha. Enjoy reading this.
"Dasari Narayana Rao is like Shakuni for Tollywood. His disciple Mohan Babu is like Duryodhana.
Dasari instigated Mohan Babu and ignited negative sparks in him saying, "See! No one is recognizing you despite getting Padmashri. You are a legend as a villain, comedian, hero and producer. If doing charity activities is a sign for legendary status, you are giving free education for 25% of poor students in your school. You are not getting required respect".

Duryodhana is known for ego and egocentric talk. Mohan Babu projected the same asking, "Am I not a legend…". He feels that Dasari is beside him as Durodhana felt Shakuni is beside him. But Shakuni spoiled the future of Duryodhana with his conspiracies. Same is happening here. Dasari looked smiling and enjoying his disciple's speech.
When Chiranjeevi was called on to the dais to shell out his verbal bombardment, initially he postponed. Chiranjeevi felt that fighting with colleagues wouldn't look good. (recall how Arjuna hesitated initially to fight with his relatives and family members). With the same hesitation and to get preparedness, he delayed his talk.
Then Allu Aravind came into scene and pumped the content in Chiranjeevi. This happened when Chiranjeevi went behind the stage to dance for 'Chaila Chaila…' Cameras didn't record what Allu Aravind said to Chiranjeevi. (Recall Bhagavadgeetha scene between Lord. Krishna and Arjuna). Only then Chiranjeevi took the rostrum to speak. It was Allu Aravind's idea to make Chiranjeevi drop his award in 'Time Capsule'. That way, Allu Aravind played like Krishna while Chiranjeevi acted like Arjuna.
That's the Mahabharatha of Tollywood and Vajrotsav dais was similar to Kurukshetra".

The difference between legend and celebrity!
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Telugu Cinema ended on a note that we had never thought – anger, ego and hypocrisy were high and evident at every stage. But Mohan Babu took the initiative and spilled the beans! And Chiranjeevi retaliated for the comments… the saga of groupism, politics and ego was made clear to all the Telugus worldwide.
Didn't we all know this, we knew but it was something that was within themselves… now the mud-slinging has come to the public view… anyway the issue was the definition for legend and a celebrity according to the event organizers.
It was very clear from the day one. According to the organizers of Telugu Cinema Vajrotsavalu 'Legend' means who can get his award seated; and 'celebrity' means one who is given the award while he or she is standing.
For example: Vijayanirmala is legend since she was given while seated and Krishna is a celebrity because he was given the award standing!

Vajrotsavam ends on mixed notes…
It was meant to be the celebrations to mark the completion of 75 years of Telugu films, but it turned out to be an open clash of egos.
The highlight of the event was the big debate over the definition of 'Legend' and the outburst from an otherwise polite Chiranjeevi! It didn't stop at that. Fans of the Megastar were quick to react by burning effigies of Mohan Babu.
The event began on the 26th of January and went on until the 28th. Leading politicians of the state were to attend the function. There were plans to honor four legendary film personalities.
Two young heroes were conspicuous by their absence- Mahesh Babu and NTR. Mahesh Babu stayed away from the function because he wasn't happy with the organizing committee. There was a personal reason too. Mahesh Babu was really irked by the way they had invited his father to the function. NTR stayed away because he didn't like the song.
After questioning the definition of "Legend", Mohanbabu has earned both friends and enemies. There are many who appreciate his nerve in questioning such things. There were many who felt that the actor shouldn't go about blowing his own trumpet so loudly. Mohan Babu was saved from further troubles only because he didn't specify any names in his speech, but everybody knew who he was hinting at.
Chiranjeevi, who is very diplomatic in his dealings, couldn't exactly hold his words back. Diplomacy was tossed out of the window.
By the time the event ended, one thing was very clear- groupism has now become an undeniable fact in Tollywood.
But it's really disheartening that groupism had to raise its ugly head at an event that was organized to mark the platinum jubilee of Tollywood.

Tollywood bigwigs promised to show the Moon to the people of Andhra Pradesh. But they have shown only the eclipse. Eclipse of the ethical values. The Telugu Cinema Vajrotsavam (TCV) organizers said that the objective is to celebrate the completion of 75 years by the Telugu cinema. They also said 75 stalwarts from the Indian film industry would be felicitated. At the nick of the moment, nobody wants to clarify – What is a Legend? And what is a Celebrity? People are not fools. Is this discrimination heading for a caste divide?
First of all, the venue of the celebrations – Hyderabad International Convention Centre – is not the right place for a mass festival. The organizers have failed to take into consideration the “Prekshaka Devullu” – that they could not purchase entry passes when sold at thousands of rupees. But, they could even risk their lives to get the first ticket at the first morning show at the theatres. After all, they love Telugu cinema and die for it. Megastar Chiranjeevi with three decades of experience in the industry has rightly said it. The film celebrities or dignitaries always look down upon the people as mere “audiences” or “crowds”. How much ire would it generate when they come to know that they are almost barred from the celebrations? Telugu Kalama Thalli knows how come the HICC was crowded double its capacity! A section of the press said: Duplicate passes were printed! Who did it? Who allowed it? Who pocketed it?
Honor or felicitation will always be a pleasing thing to any artiste worth his efforts. Many a celluloid genius was born and passed away. The duty of the organizers should have been to remember the exploits of the bygone generations and pass it on to the present generation. So much of time was criminally wasted by way of dillydallying whom to honor and whom to ignore. A true lover of Telugu cinema would sure get a heart stroke if he is to watch the helplessness of many an artiste, who has not even received the invitation or has no money to travel all the way to Hyderabad. Leave alone his capacity to purchase the ticket at least for himself. Let his wife watch it live!
The announcement of National Honor of Padma Sri to Dr. Mohan Babu on the very opening day of the Diamond Jubilee of Tollywood comes as a pleasant gift to the entire film fraternity. From the governance point of view, the gesture reflects the growing stature of an artiste from being a mere entertainer to that of a socially-responsible functionary. The organizers chose to honor him as a “Celebrity” and not as a “Legend”. None of the organizers have explained the difference between the two “Honors” that they had invented in all illogical sense. The common man will sure agree with him. “Is not Krishnam Raju a Legend? Is not Vijaya Nirmla a Legend?” To that matter, none bothered to utter the name of Dr. T.S. Vijay Chander, who is hailed as India’s Jesus, at the venue. He is the one and the only legend who donated 2 acres of land for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden artistes. Is he not a Legend?
Megastar Chiranjeevi for the first time in his 32 years of reel career got so emotional, observed Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, the man who is likely to replace the remaining older generation soon. Yes. He understood the anguish of the megastar. While, Dr. Mohan Babu made dashing remarks against the organizers, none from the audience shot back, but for the megastar. Making his sermon loud that there should not be place for personal vendetta, Dr. Chiranjeevi clearly chose to make objectionable personal attack against Dr. Mohan Babu. “People who are after cheap publicity for a photograph in newspapers do like this. People whose belly is full and whose bank account is full do like this,” Chiru observed.
The organizers maintained that film industry is like a single family and there is no need for anyone to go to the public. Ironically the organizers seem to have forgotten. The people watched the “midnight masala” live. Cozy in the company of his near and dear, the commoner (the audience and the crowd) too has cared two hoots for the “star egos”. Let us wait and see – what the “Time Capsule” holds out for Tollywood’s centenary celebrations.

KS Rama Rao finds fault with media
The convener of the recently-concluded three-day Telugu Cinema Vajrotsavam committee KS. Rama Rao vented his anger and dismay that a section of the press had chosen to make trivial and family matters of (Telugu film industry) a big issue, blowing it unduly. The occasion was a press meet on Tuesday evening that he arranged at the Film Chamber building, Hyderabad to thank the functionaries of the festivals.
He came out with jumbled observations in this regard. Rama Rao said without saying that holding of the TCV for three days is just to accommodate the legends and celebrities (bigwigs) completely. "If one (bigwig) comes, the other prefers to stay away. We have to see that the other one has to attend the function the next day. And So on. Hence, celebrating the event for three days." Ignoring the blatant criticism that several prominent people of the film industry, particularly of the yesteryears, were ignored, Rama Rao said that the festival was concluded satisfactorily and "we have felicitated all."
The convener, however, regretted having involved the services of "Legends" Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao and Dr. Rama Naidu in executing the TCV. We should not have done it. Just, they deserve felicitation only. "I am sorry that invitation could not be extended to respectable persons like EVV Satyanarayana and prominent people like VV Vinayak and YVS Chowdary."
Referring the expenditure involved, he said that in all about Rs. 2.5 crore is spent for the grand celebration of the event. Guests and lovers of Telugu cinema attended the event in a big way coming all the way from several foreign countries. The pride and glory of Telugu cinema crossed the boundaries and reached international status. At the same time, Rama Rao maintained that "we never wanted any publicity. After all it is our family function."
He apologized to Nandamuri Balakrishna and Naga Babu in particular for not mentioning their names at the Vote of Thanks, though he had not spelt out many other big names. He also thanked those who had extended their donations, though not very big amounts, to the event like Showkaru Janaki, Jamuna, Balayya and Kantha Rao.
He found fault with a section of the press for making report that invitation was not extended to senior artiste Sobhan Babu. In fact, "we invited him personally. But he said he could not attend for the reason that he could not give chance to get tempted to act in films once again." Rama Rao also clarified that Diamond Jubilee meant celebration of both 60 years and 75 years event. He did it in retaliation of a popular news paper which said that Diamond Jubilee meant only 60 years celebration.
Rama Rao expressed special thanks to the family members of NTR for providing the required material used by late NTR during the display of film antiques at the museum specially arranged at the venue.
He observed that some people should have waited to get the status of Legends. Dr. Rama Naidu and Dr. Dasari are legends. To achieve their status, "they have to wait for some time. Let them ask if they don't get during the 100 years celebrations."
Rama Rao further parried back the criticism of senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao that the name of former chief minister Marri Chenna Reddy was not being remembered during the TCV. "In fact, we had erected his statue at the Film Chamber building premises in recognition of his services to the film industry."

KS Rama Rao arranged a press meet today to thank the people behind the scenes who worked relentlessly for the success of Telugu cinema vajrostavam.
Speaking on the occasion KS Rama Rao told the following points.
1. It was a mistake to involve people like Dasari, D Rama Naidu etc in the committee as they were selected as legends/celebrities to be felicitated. We should not have involved them into the committee.
2. We had to hold the celebrations for 3 days instead of one day because if one celebrity comes, then the other celebrity keeps away from the function. In order to accommodate everybody we had to hold it for 3 days.
3. We spent 2 and half crores on this function.
4. We have fulfilled the objective of honoring legends/celebrities and celebrating the milestone of 75 years.
5. We wanted to show the unity and solidarity.
6. This function got coverage beyond the boundaries of Telugu cinema. This function was featured at national level. Telugu film lovers from abroad came to attend this function.
7. I would like to thank Bala Krishna and his family for showing top class culture in the function. In a hurry I could not mention the name of Bala Krishna in the vote of thanks. I am sorry for that.
8. Nagababu too worked really hard for the function in the capacity of MAA President. In a hurry I could not mention the name of Nagababu in the vote of thanks. I am sorry for that.
9. We are awed by the gesture of senior artists likes like Showkar Janaki, Jamuna, Balayya and Kantha Rao who came forward and donated good amounts.
10. We could not communicate with directors like EVV, VV Vinayak and YVS Chowdary. We are sorry for that.
11. We personally invited Sobhan Babu to attend this function. But he said that he has been away from the industry for years and the moment he comes to Hyderabad, he might get temped to act in films. He politely refused our invitation. But some newspaper reported that we did not invite Sobhan Babu.
12. There is an article in famous newspapers that we should not call this function as diamond jubilee and it is celebrated after 60 years. We are enclosing a copy of oxford dictionary which says that diamond jubilee term is used for both 60 years and 75 years.
13. I would like to thank the family of NTR, Bala Krishna, Purandheswari, Rama Krishna and Lakshmi Parvarthi for helping us by giving the articles of NTR for exhibition.
14. Whoever thinks that they are legends should have waited for their time to come instead of doing it in a hurry.
15. 15th September is the birthday of Telugu cinema. I will make sure that NTR award is given on that day. Even if government did not come forward, I will take it as personal responsibility and hold a function on behalf of film industry.
Then KS Rama Rao distributed mementoes to all the people who worked behind the scenes to make it a big success.
