Found this interesting blog about Vijay's Pokkiri. If you read through the discussion posts there many of them who don't even understand telugu praise Superstar and they keep saying how Vijay was unable to match him.
With his popularity Mahesh Babu can easily do bilinguals in telugu & tamil

Vijay has really cleaned up after Aadhi and probably looks the best he has ever looked. He has obviously tried to imitate Mahesh Babu with a low, understated dialog delivery but it doesn't look very natural since we're familiar with his style and it makes him look less energetic than usual

Thanks for your unbiased stand.Like you I am also a Tamilian;but I feel Mahesh Babu as a very good actor(The silent killer attitude and cool guy combined together) and way better than Vijay.Infact;after a 5-year sabbatical I've once again started seeing action movies in Telugu since 2002 only because of this 'Prince'!
vijay imitating mahesh or our own beloved superstar is "edhayo parthu yaaro soodu potukitta madhiri"..honestly vijay has no intensity whatsoever...his portrayal of angst/intensity is just a constipated expression..pls dont compare him with mahesh,who IMHO oozes fire,style & charm in his roles post okkadu..

If we are talking about classy and only looking at actors and performances, obviously Mahesh Babu is leagues ahead (and my god, I don't even understand a word of Telugu to being saying this with utmost enthusiasm and glee!). Mahesh has great sceen presence, a very casual acting approach and is a delight to watch. No wonder Vijay has tried hard to emulate him in the remake. |
