Ramu talks about how his heart skipped a beat at some unexpected moments.
Trust Ram Gopal Varma to come up with the most shocking revelations. And this time around, he talks about how he was once in love with a construction labourer!
"I was a very bad student and never really liked to listen to the lectures. I remember being genuinely attracted towards this construction labourer who used to work outside my classroom. She was dark and had cement stains all over her feet. And I would spend hours looking at her while my teacher continued with the boring lectures. I don't know how to define that emotion but it's true that there was a genuine attraction for her," recalls the director. But was that love, you ask Ramu. "Love is a very personalised feeling.
It varies in intensity from one individual to another and also is dependent on time. Giving a generalised definition would be being unjust to the word. What I feel now for a person could change a few weeks later. At this point of time, love would mean warmth and wanting to enjoy the company of the person. True love brings with it a sense of belonging for a person. It's an animal instinct of wanting to protect the person. There could be a sense of power in that," he says.
As for himself, Ramu says that he has only experienced selfless love. "Love has never come with any expectations. When there are expectations, love doesn't work. It grows from free will. Once I had experienced selfless love for my teacher! That experience of love was like a drug for me. When I was young, I was also madly in love with a heroine whose posters I had in my room!"
Well, from teacher, construction labourer to heroines — seems like Ramu has really been there and done that as far as matters of the heart go.
