Bharani Movie Review

Verdict :Below Average 2/5
Story, Screenplay and Direction : Not a New story, it has been beaten to death umpteen number of times in the past. Coming to the story, Movie opens up with villagers waiting for Bharani who is returning from prison after four years.Then movie enters the flashback mode, Vishal whose regard for his uncle(played by Prabhu) and love for his family is so great that he will not tolerate the slightest insult to them. Bharani's family is always in fight with another wealthy family, headed by Vijay Kumar. In the past both Vijay Kumar's family and Prabhu family are relatives, as Vijay kumar's daughter (Nadiya) and Prabhu enter the wedlock. But due to some unfortunate sequences they split and Nadiya moved out of the house.Daughter of Prabhu and Nadiya is Bhanu, and she wants to unite two families by marrying Vishal. Whether she marries Vishal, whether the two rivals join their hands? we have to watch on silver screen.
Screenplay is not so gripping, both the half's were dragged. And No good comedy track is another curse for the movie.
Direction by Hari is fair. Though he has a few interesting twists and suspenseful sequences in the narration, he fell short of the expectations. He want to show Vishal as a short tempered guy with the introduction scene, where vishal hammers half-a-dozen goons to the death for a simple reason, which is not convincing. Vishal's characterization can be better, god knows why he loses temper every time when it is seriously not needed.
Music: Some good mass numbers by Yuvan, but no chartbusters. Actually this story doesn't need any songs, but as songs are mandatory they were inserted with lot of hard work from the director. background music is good.
Photography: Photography by Priyan is good. But it can be better, Priyan has already shown his best output in Vishal's last movie Pogaru.
Artists Performance :
Vishal : One thing is sure, he is improving with every movie. His body language in the movie is really good as compared to his earlier flicks. He is top rated when it comes to stunts. He needs extra care with his costumes. Its hightime that he started choosing variety scripts, rather than working hard in the same village backdrop violent stories.
Bhanu : She is adequate as a village girl. She looks chubby. She looks good in Chudidars and half sarees. She can deliver better performance than what she did in the movie, but director failed to derive.
Prabhu : A brother of widowed sister, who even sacrificed his wife, for the sake of guarding his sister and his son. he excelled in the character. His sparkling eyes and body language are really good. He is top rate when it comes to emotional scenes.
How is the movie?
Bharani is an old story with no gripping screenplay. But for performances by Vishal, Prabhu and the stunts you can watch it once, when you have nothing else to do. No need to move in a hurry, wait for a DVD and watch it in your living room. Surely it was a disappointing fare from the director who delivered block-busters like Saami (original of telugu block buster Lakshmi Narasimha) with his gripping story and screenplay.
Final Verdict:
A typical Vishal's movie, which can pull masses for some limited time, as he already created an impact with his earlier flicks. This Movie will end up as a below average.
