last two years lo interest rates 13 times pencharu US lo, emayyindi. Interest rate spread only helps a little bit in short term, not in the long term. Downside risk is more than upside potential for USD in the long term. |

Our plants produce electricity solely from naturally occurring geothermal steam. Geothermal production wells tap into superheated water reservoirs thousands of feet beneath the Earth's surface to release tremendous pressure caused by the hot water, which rushes to the surface. Geothermal technology aims at capturing this heat energy and transforming it into electricity. Instead of burning a fuel to heat water into steam as seen in conventional forms of generation, heat from the earth is used to create the steam that powers the turbines. Geothermal energy is considered renewable energy because no fuel is consumed.
I am not entirely sure whether we are talking about the same thing. |

In fact it's nothing to do with India, their influence in this issue is almost nil. The highest reserves in $ debt (paper) is with Japan and China. There are few reasons for USD downfall. I am listing them here, not in any specific order.
1)Deficits in the US i.e., budget, trading and current account deficits are at altime high. Some body needs to finance the US at almost $2.5 billion a day (at this point) and it is going up.
2) USD is still a major reserve currency around the world. Due to the fact mentioned in above 1), many countries around the world are diversifying the reserves in to Gold, Euro etc. That means they are selling USD to buy other currencies and Gold. When you have over supply in the market, obviously the price will come down.
3) Iran (third biggest exporter of crude) accepting payments for it's crude exports only in currencies other than USD. (Saddam did the same for couple of years and there is a theory that it was one of the main reasons US invaded Iraq).
This move again reduces the demand for USD overall (2.5 million barrels a day x $65 = $162.5 million per DAY).
Few other complex reasons are also there, but the above are easy to understand.
According to some analysts, there is further 10% to 15% (may be more) down side risk in USD. |
