Happened in a campus recrutment ................. What is a microprocessor? It is the one which processes. Processes what? Everything that needs to be processed. Ok, what is a microcontroller, then? It is nothing but the one that controls. Hmmmm.. Ok, then what is the difference between a microprocessor and a microcontroller? A microprocessor procceses and a microcontroller controls, ma'am. Ok, I see that you have done your project on Steganography.. Yes, ma'am. Do you know what digital watermarking is? I am not sure, ma'am. But, I remember reading somewhere that the water level in the tanks is monitored digitally by a sensor and when it goes below a limit, it sends a signal to the motor to fill the tank with water. Can you tell me what is Fleming's left hand rule. Silence. Faraday's law? Silence. Turbo generator? Silence. Stepper motor? Silence. Do you know what a transformer is? Ya. Can you tell me what it does? Silence. Step up transformer. Step down transformer. Heard of it? Ya Do you know what it is? Ya. Can you explain it to us? Silence with a look on his face that said, "Don't you people know all this??" Do you know what ROM is? Read Only Memory. RAM? Random Access Memory. Can you tell me what RAM and ROM are? RAM is Random Access Memory and ROM is Read Only Memory. Ya, we know the expanded versions of those abbreviations. But, can you explain to us what it is? RAM is Random Access Memory and ROM is Read Only Memory. What is a hard disk? It is a disk. For? Storage purposes. Ok, do you know what a floppy disk is? Ya, it is also used for storing data. Good. Now, can you tell us the difference in the storage techniques that is used in these two devices? Floppy disk is waste. It cannot even have one song in it. But, hard disk can hold, songs, videos, photos, yahoo mails, gmail etc. Can you tell us what %d is used for? For integers. Ok, %x? Alphanumeric. Suppose, I declare char *p; and I give printf("%p", p); what will it print?? Hmmm, purpose of the pointer? Ok. Imagine a small room with just a refrigerator in it. I plug it to the power supply and keep the door open. Under an ideal scenario, would the room get cooler? No, ma'am. Why not? It will not get cold, ma'am. Tell me why wouldn't it? It won't, ma'am. You don't know why it would get cold but you are sure that it wouldn't get cooler? Yes. Hmmmm.. See, ma'am, if that were the case, we would use only refrigerator. What is the necessity of AC? Ok. What is a motor? One that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. And a generator? One that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. Good. Suppose, I connect the output of the motor to the generator as input. And I take the output of the generator and give it to the motor as input. Will it work? No, ma'am. Imagine that I have a pedal to the motor and pedal it and start it off. Then, the output is given to the generator and so on. Would it work then? Yes, ma'am. Ok, good. Under an ideal scenario, how long would this work? It will not work, ma'am. Do you know what a transformer is? Yes. What will happen if you give DC power to a transformer? What should happen, ma'am? I am asking you what will happen. You tell me what you want that to do, I will tell you whether it will work or not. I don't want it to do anything. I just want to know what will happen if you give DC power to transformer. Silence. So, have you attempted GRE? Yes. And TOEFL? Yes. So, what is your interest? Doing M.S., then Ph. D. So, have you applied? Yes. Have you received any I-20s? Not yet. So, why are you trying for this job? Silence. Can you tell us the difference between "definition" and "declaration"? Definition is nothing but the defining of a variable. Ok. And declaration? It is basically defined as declaring the variable. Do you know what a scheduler is? Ya. It schedules. Schedules what? Silence. Ok, leave that. You know what a dispatcher is? Ya, it dispatches. Hi D! Tell me something about yourself. Good morning, ma'am. First of all, I would like to thank you for this opportunity. I am very glad for this chance given to me. I am D, my parents call me as D1 at home and my friends call me as D2 affectionately. Some of the guys in my college also call me as D3 which means _______. I am really very happy, ma'am. Thank you so much for interviewing me, ma'am. You don't have to thank me. Anyways... No, ma'am. Seriously, ma'am. Thank you very much for this opportunity, ma'am.. Can you write and show me how you can swap two variables.. Without using a third variable? Ya, I can do that. No, not that. Swap two variables using bitwise operator. Oh, I don't know. Can I write how to swap without using a thrid variable? No. Please, ma'am, after all, swapping is swapping, right? Can you tell me the storage classes in C? Silence. What is meant by garbage collection in Java? Silence. Can you tell me the difference between Java and C? Silence. What are your interests? Where can I question you from? Nothing technical. In a technical interview, you don't want to be interviewed technically? Ya. |
