Mahesh Babu rewrote the records of the 75 year old telugu cinema with his latest industrial hit, Pokiri. Puri Jagan with his simple story line, energetic dialogues and proper establishment of all characters gave Tollywood its biggest hit in 75 years. Tollywood’s lucky lass Ileana proved lucky for the second time and gave her second silver jubilee movie of the year. Mani Sharma teamed with Mahesh and gave the best foot-tapping music of the year. ‘Ippatikinka na vayasu’ and ‘Dole Dole’ being the best in the album. |

Muhurat of Mahesh Babu's latest film in the direction of Puri Jagan was held on 23rd of May in the newly-constructed plush office of Puri Jagan. Smt Manjula sounded the clap board and Superstar Krishna switched on the camera. Krishna, Mahesh, Puri Jagan, G Adisesha Giri Rao, Manjula, Sanjay, Namrata Mahesh, Mehar Ramesh and executive producer Krishna participated in this event.
This film has the background of Mafia and regular shooting would start in the month of June. Shyam K Naidu handles camera. Other cast and crewmembers are yet to be announced. Puri Jagan produces this film on Vaishno Academy banner. Manjula presents it. |

Mahesh: In my opinion, this was the best ever performance by Mahesh Babu. His acting skills not only render commercial entertainment to the general crowds, but also delight the serious filmgoers. Puri Jagan should be commended for doing great characterization for Mahesh. Mahesh Babu’s one-liners uttered in Uttarandhra dialect are real fun. Mahesh Babu who is undoubtedly the best good looking hero of this generation is extremely fascinating with his new hairdo. |

It was April and Pokiri was the big story. The film was ruling the box-office, critics were tossing out good reviews like confetti and trade pundits were dubbing the film's director Puri Jagannadh as a sensational director of the year. For Mahesh Babu it was a glorious moment. The excitement and hysteria that Pokiri created was phenomenal and its success brought about a lot of riches to everybody remotely connected with the film.. To the filmmakers and the industry wallah's it raked in moolah and for the audiences it gave them every minute of their money's worth of contentment. But for one man in Vijayawada who was selling tickets in black, it was more than paisa vasool.
One of my friends recently went to a registrar office to register his newly acquired land in Vijayawada. There he met a lean chap who bought a plot in the outskirts of Vijayawada for Rs. 2 lacs. That guy turned out to be a black marketer who sells ticket at the theater playing Pokiri in Vijayawada. Upon enquiring he declared that he bought the land with the profits he made by selling black tickets for Pokiri film at Vijayawada Pokiri main theater. And there are few other guys who became likhpatis by selling Pokiri tickets in black. We don’t see any Telugu film going for housefull for 100 days in a genuine way. But Pokiri is an exception. Pokiri is going great guns even today in major centers.
This incident reminds us of one thing. It's very much like these movies....when we get to the release date, we realize that the movie doesn't belong to us any more. It belongs to the world and you just hope that you did okay. But in Pokiri's case it's double whammy. Aap khush...aur hum bhi! |

Mahesh – the prince who creates flutters in the hearts of Telugu film lovers with his looks and performance – is crowned as the new superstar of Telugu cinema with his latest film Pokiri poised to break records in most of the centers.
Let us define the term superstar. A superstar is one who converts a mediocre film into hit and a hit film into sensational hit. A superstar is one who induces mass films into classes and promotes class films among the masses and scores equally well in both class and mass centers with any kind of film.

Pokiri collected a record breaking share of 1 crore in 2 weeks. Around 20000 people watched Pokiri in first week with 8 prints.
Puri Jagan created magic with Pokiri and presented Mahesh Babu in new avatar and paved way for Mahesh Babu to attain this superstardom. With Sainikudu in the line, Mahesh Babu is all set to conquer new heights!

At last Superstar Mahesh Babu's POKIRI ends its dream run after 189 successful days. In its journey it crossed several milestones and become the Number 1 Hit in Hyderabad city also.
POKIRI got the State Single theatre highest gross of 1.61+ crores in Sudarshan 35mm RTC cross Roads alone.
