Stocks:
Personally this is where most of my investments go. I am heavily into stock trading. I am a short-term investor so my money goes in and out of many stocks. A few of the stocks that I am looking into are SIGM, YHOO, TSS, MU, AMD, etc.
There is still a lot of money on the sidelines in the US markets. So I don't think the recession that people keep talking about will happen. Even if there is a downturn in the markets, it will be a soft landing, unlike the .Net bust. The analysts keep scaring us (they have been since last qtr of 2006).
The housing market is slowed down tremendously in most markets. This may continue for another year or two.

Banking:
E*Trade and ING Direct are good banks to put your money in the USA. Money in savings accounts will give you around 5% returns. Thats a lot for money put away safely in a bank.
Similarly, I hear that interest rates in India too are very encouraging. Guys in India can probably give more insight into this.

Emerging markets:
Investing in emerging markets will definitely give you great returns. If you had put your money in Japanese related funds in last August, you would have made good profits. Taiwan is in the same phase now. Investing in Taiwanese markets may fetch you good returns.
Look into ETF (Exchange traded funds). This is the best way to put your money in emerging markets.

AP real estate scene: Share your thoughts.
The news I am getting is that the prices in Hyd have settled down if not going down. The prices are at a stand still for the past few months.
Investments in Apartments may see a down turn. A lot of investment went in the last couple of years and since they are close to completion now, flippers are scrambling out of the market. Now it is the real investors (who will be the final buyers) who are in the market. As usual most of the dough being injected into the market is from the NRIs.
Even rental prices are going to come down as there is swarm of apartments ready to be completed soon. Its definitely an interesting phase in the market. I think that people at the sidelines with money in hand will be gainers.
