Nandamuri Balakrishna is winning the hearts of Telugus in USA. His gentlemanly nature and down to earth attitude surprised the Telugus. They got to see the real Balakrishna in front of them. Contrary to ‘badly projected image’ by media, they found him earnest and good human being.
On Friday Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Society awarded him with Vishwa Vikhyata Nata Teja as part of TANA celebrations. Ten thousand people attended the function. Remember his father and legendary actor Late NTR was known by Vishwa Vikyata Nata Sarvabouma.
NTR’s contemporary Gummadi also shared the dais along with Lagadapati, comedian Sunil, Parachuri Gopala Krishna and Murali Mohan. Sri Ramarao Krottapalli compeered the event. Gummadi, Murali Mohan and Parachuri shared their association with NTR and Balakrishna. Parachuri informed that he is writing a book on his relationship with NTR.
YVS and Sunil shared their experiences working with Balayya and how NTR inspired them. Ravi Poturli who along with YVS presented the shawl on the stage to Balakrishna.
Balakrishna did act as Sri Krishna Devarayalu in a historical play staged there. Everyone mesmerized by his impeccable performance and dialogue delivery. The auditorium was reverberated with the chanting of NTR and Balakrishna all the while.
Sunil also enthralled with his mono-action while Prabha did a classical dance act as part of the historical play.
But it is Balakrishna who stole the show and in his 45 minutes speech he didn’t use a single English word that surprised everyone.
Prior to the felicitation, a special film (with clippings) on the success story of Balakrishna was shown by the fans.
He’s truly winning the hearts there.

Balakrishna played the role of Srikrishna Devaraya. Muralimohan, Parachuri, Jonnavittula, Suddala Ashok Teja, Harikrishna, Jayaprakash Reddy and Rajitha and others also enthralled the audiences.
The play is about the Krishna Ddevaraya along with Timmarasu coming to the native land and feeling bad about the generation which not talking proper Telugu. Suddala and Jonnavittula who played their real life roles sang the greatness of Telugu. Both the songs are superb and thrilled the audience that has the lyrics showing the greatness of the Telugu language.
Balakrishna as Srikrishnadevraya looks so dashing and dignified and lived in the role. Murali Mohan does not have much to do but he looked very nice in the costume.
After the show Balakrishna gave a speech for forty minutes without using a single word of English about the greatness of Telugu and also the people who came from motherland to abroad and the importance of retaining the cultural values. He also thanked the audience.
The play was directed by Balakrishna, which was written by Parachuri Gopalakrishna.
