Dadagiri expert Shankar Prasad (Chiranjeevi) imposts as professor. He falls to the melodious voice of a radio Jackie Jahnavi (Karishma Kotak) and everyday dreams of meeting her. One such occasion comes to him. He instantly falls in love with her. Jahnavi runs an old age home in a posh building owned by a greedy businessman Rajalingam (Sayaji Shinde). Shankar and his assistant ATM (Srikanth) are used to do the odd jobs for Rajalingam. Jahnavi thinks that Shankar is a thorough follower of Gandhism and can answer any questions on the Mahatma. He is invited to give his lecture to the old people. Shankar goes to a library and reads what all he can about Gandhi. The ghost of Gandhi appears to Shankar. It becomes a regular thing. Gandhi starts teaching the principles of truth and non-violence to Shankar. Rajalingam gets the old age home vacated forcibly. How Gandhigiri helped Shankar regain the old age home for Jahnavi and also her heart for him? This forms the climax.
Artistes’ Performance
Chiranjeevi rendered excellent performance as Shankar Prasad in this sequel movie. Though 50+, the megastar reigns supreme in dance sequences with energetic steps. However, there is little scope for stunts as the movie's main theme is based on Gandhigiri. At the same time, Chiru did the emotional scenes with elan.
Karishma Kotak is a big minus point to the film. She looks middle-aged with raw performance in all angles of histrionics. She is neither impressive nor glamorous.
Srikanth looks matured when compared to his ATM role in Shankar Dada MBBS.
Sayaji Shinde's role as greedy villain is impressive.
Dilip Prabhawalkar as Gandhi is adequate.
Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav and Dharmavarapu Subramanyam contributed the comedy factor, which is not sufficient in a film with slow narration like this.
The guest roles have nothing to perform as they just appear in a single sequence - the title song. However, Pawan Kalyan appears as the bridegroom at the climax. During the launch of SDZNB audio, it was highly publicized that his role would be a model to megastar admirers. However, the scene shows him kicking some henchmen and uttering some abrupt dialogues. The general audience might get confused as to what the Power Star intends to say. At one point, Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi kiss each other profusely.
Technical Details
Shankar Dada Zindabad - the sequel to SDMBBS - lacks the punch that is required to entertain the Telugu audience. There was comparison between Munnabhai MBBS and its remakes in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. However, it is not apt to compare SDZ with LRMB. The audience can notice the flavor of the original very much missing. Prabhudeva has shed his creativity and totally remained loyal to LRMB. He just changed the characters and made them speak Telugu. That's it. Very slow narration and sermonizing begin to test the patience of the audience soon after the film begins.
When SDMBBS made Shankar Dada utter some English dialogues, there was some response. But, here only a couple of dialogues are there. Banana Open Put in Mouth and Dog Bite Slipper Shot. They are not catchy and the audience can observe the silence in the theatre.
Songs are average to good. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good. The song for which Mamta Mohan Das lent her voice is a good watch.
The scene in which Gandhi remains mute to the questions of Shankar and later answers them is a little bit difficult for the audience to understand.
When you find some logical and convincing conclusion in LRMB, it is missing in this Telugu remake, just sounding dramatic.
Cinematography and Production Values are good.
FC Verdict :
The film is opened to inadequate talk. The impact is such that the audience is assured that Shankar Dada and Munna Bhai are different perceptions. Never the twain shall meet. |
