Yamadonga Rocks! Yamaho Yama! There is never a dull moment in this fast paced completed complete action oriented entertainer.
The film is about Raju (NTR) who is a petty thief. His accomplice is Ali. He meets a girl at a village fair when he is young and she presents him with a chain with a dollar. This dollar is crucial in the film and it figures from start to finish.
Coming to the story, NTR dreams of making a lot of money by hook or crook and settle down in life. He eels all the stolen goods to Dhanalakshmi (Mamatha Mohandas) a pawn broker.
NTR gets a chance to make ten lakhs in a deal with MS Narayana and completes it successfully. Before Narayana can sign the cheque for ten lakhs in NTR’s name, he collapses and dies.
This comes as a big blow to NTR and Ali and they drown their sorrows in Liquor. In rage, NTR starts calling Yamadharmaraju names and challenges him that when he comes face to face with him, he would teach him a lesson. Yama watches this from Yamalokam and is embarrassed as everyone present laugh at the insults heaped upon him by NTR.
The young girl is none other than Priyamani, the grand daughter of a rich Jamindar, and she is made a servant in her own house by her wicked uncle and aunt. They hatch a plan tom kidnap her and finish he off. But NTR comes to know about her real identoiy and enters into a deal with them. Jayaprakash and Naga Babu double cross NRTR and he is killed.
The real action commences from this point as NTR reaches Yamalokam. He manages to unseat Yama and occupies his place. The duel between Mohan Babu the real Yamadharma Raju and the pretender NTR is very interesting.
NTR is sent back to Bhoolokam, as Yama cannot find any record of his bad deeds.
Yam also follows NTR to Bhoolokam in a bid to trap him into committing sins so that he can take him back to Yamalokam.
What happens next, will Yamadharma Raju succeed in his mission? Will NTR die a second time? What is the fate of Priyamani? The answers to all these question can be found on the silver screen.
Performance:
NTR dominates the film from start to finish. He is good in all the songs and also emotional scenes. His dance steps are the highlight of the movie.
The late NT Rama Rao appears in Yamalokam and dances with Jr. NTR and the thre celestial beauties.
The audience roars with appreciation when NT Rama Rao says to Jr. NTR – “I have given you my name, what are you doing here in Yamalokam? “
“Another dialogue by NT Rama Rao – We are from the Nanadamuri Vamsam, and you have my blood, go and fight it out with Yama. “
Mohan Babu as Yamadharma Raju comes up with another commendable performance. He proves that when it comes to dialogue deliver, he is in a class of his own.
Priyamani is okay. But it is Mamatha Mohandas who steals the show. Yama takes her from when he comes to Bhoolokam and it is here that Mamatha gets to display her acting talents. It’s Thumbs up to Mamatha. Full marks to her.
Brahmanadam as Chitragupta is a right choice. He gets a chance to deliver many one-liners and double meaning dialogues.
Ali gives able support to NTR. Jayaprakash Reddy, Nagababu, Naresh, MS Narayana and others do a good job.
The songs are good. Item song with Rambha – Shakalaka.. And Nuvvu Ante Padi Padi with Priyamani is very good. The remix song on NTR and Mamatha is also good.
Jr. NTR brings back the memories of the legendary NTR when he plays Yama. The dialogue ‘Emativi, Emantivi and Vanadanam, Paadabhi Vanadam of the late NTR have been rendered by Jr. NTR with a lot of conviction.
The Yamalokam set is also very good and authentic. And so is he graphics work.
There are hardly any negative points in the film, except for the slightly long fight scene in the climax and Jr. NTR’s rather slim body, to thin for comfort, was what many people felt after watching the movie.
All in all, Yamadonga is a good movie and has something for everyone, even kids. Yamadonga is a complete family entertainer.
