watched any other good ones ? I saw master and commander, worthwhile. infact, very good

First things first .. Cheers to Colin Farell for good job in the lead role. I hope oscar pundits will take a note of his performance.
Coming to the movie.. Oliver stone atempted to show "what made alexander a great hero" rather than who was alexander and stuff. The idea was right but its the execution part where few things went rong.
Battle with darius was given importance over battle with Porus(as Maggy observed) but i think it was justified because Alexander went into battle with Darius with vengeance(Persian invasion of greece and also the specualtion that darius sent an assasin to murder Phillip). Its in the battle at Gaugemala where alexander shows his courage and heroism by attacking Darius in Daylight even though his generals sugest him to attack in the night. Its in asia (prior to invading india) where alexander changes a lot in terms of his vision and policies. In asia alexander tries to unifies the culture gap between asia and greeks by marrying a tribe girl ruxana. Alexander was given the title of pharoah by oracle in egypyt and was deemed as great hero long before the battle with Porus. Hence i thought the more weightage to those historical facts were appropriate.
Over all the movie was good but i guess doesnt stand a chance of a nomination. |

Indians are barbarians- annadu director ee cinemalo, he should have done a little research atleast vaadi GK kosam aina. Alexander vs Darius fight antha chakkaga chupinchadu, but Alexander vs Porus yuddam lo kaneesam aa Indian king peru kuda ekkada vadaledhu. mana kelagu thelusu Purushotham gurinchi, but ee movie chusina ae non-Indian ki theleedhu aa Indian king name. One thing the audience will know is Alexander ki lungs lo arrow guchukuni chachentha pani ayyindhani India lo anthe. Actually that is wrong too, adhi vere yuddam lo. this movie has more Hollywood commercial movie traits, than reality. anyway story and direction are bad for this movie, actors gave their best.
Val Kilmer as Philip II is very impressive, Anjelina Jolie's funny accent and snake pets are a little scary. Costumes, settings, visuals, back ground score matuku super. One or two unnecessary scenes vunnai, which I didn't like.
overall it varies from person to person ee movie nachindha ledha annadhi.
Colin Farrell kante, I am waiting for Leo DiCaprio and Buz Lehrman's Alexander, chudali andhulo Nicole and Mel ela vuntaro!! |
