It is rumuored that even AMAZON is planning to enter the DVD online rental sector. Even though it ain't gonna profitable, it atleast drives customers to buy other products from amazon |

Chalam Sodara: I think I agree with you that it is a a decsion based on ongoing market trends and invidual analysis. I also think this is a consequence of the merger and aqquisition talks uinvolving Hollywood Entertainment as mentioned in the write-up. A monopoly of Video-Rental would not be entartained if there are too many contraints and contomer-unfriendly strings attachedd( see Microsoft Inc) Anyways, I liked this idea, infact BlockBuster which was very costly earlier for movie rental, was much more accesible as it started implementing the Netflix paradigm a few months ago. It looks like it is going to be better now. BTW, the other good thing that happened to the consumer market and one that appealed to me, was McDOnalds accepting Credit cards .. ( apoor peron like me dos not always have ready cash - and taking out a 20 form the ATM is not always a good decison - as you ending spending 20 as oppsed to a couple fo bucks) -- but agian that is just me. I think its based on some good research maybe. so, someone that doesnt return in one week , they prolly have numbers that they wouldnt return it even after one more week - grace period. so, now they will be forced to buy. and ppl taking pains to go back and claim refund by returning is normally not very high. I could be totally wrong. but interesting.
