Onedays lo, Ganguly is a good player. He might bounce back. But if the same form continues, he should be ommitted. But as of now, he should be given couple of more chances considering his background as a good oneday player. But in tests, he should be removed right away.Mana Test team lo weakest top order batsman Ganguly ye. I heard similar opinion from many people. He is in bad form in Tests from a long time. There are hell a lot of good players in India who can fill in his slot in the Test team. |

You don't have to pull him off completely from the team, if the Indian Board think that it is too much of a risk. You can have Dravid lead the one-day team and Ganguly the test-team or the other way round - just like Australia tried with Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh initially. You try it out, evaluate the results, do some changes and get rock on!!!

quote:Okha chinna question, who do you think should fill in for ganguly ?
How did Ganguly emerge as a captain. The same way, you have to take chances/risks and promote the deputy to be the captain of the cricket team. You've to encourage, motivate youngsters to step up and take up leadership roles. You cannot create monpoly in the cricket team. This is not Gavaskar/KapilDev era where there used to be constant friction between when one of them lead the team. But then, you might say that Dravid's form may face the same challenges as Ganguly, but, that cannot be the reason to promote Dravid. Then again, you never know, he may still be the "mr. dependent" even after taking up the captaincy. So on and so forth.... As an issue aside, we should also have managers that once played for India. I'm stronly against foreign (former) cricketers to be the managers for our Indian team. Eventhough, this may not have returned the best results, who knows, somebody like Ajit Wadekar might come from the middle of nowhere.

its all fine to say take out ganguly and based on current form, i would have to agree...but with john retiring, removing ganguly would be toomuch of a change in a short span of time. if not ganguly then who else. should we go for change for the sake of change? is there any one with the right credentials for the spot. is dravid a natural successor keeping in mind the amount of cricket we play these days and his age.

I repeat quote:Ganguly may not want to play in Domestic Cricket, but, if at all he is kicked out (looks like that he is), he has no other choice BUT to play DOMESTIC CRICKET if he wants to come back to the NATIONAL TEAM.

Enti nuvvu iche warning!? Nee face bacha ga! You used "indecent", I used "Chutey", level ayipoyindi. As far as your statement about Dalmiya, even Dalmiya cannot save him if he continues his performance in the same way indefinitely! There's a limit to anybody's patience. Forget about Dalmiya - even God cannot save him. |

indecent maayya, dont try to kid around .. you might not be ready for what you get ... first warning .. all you say about ganguly is theoretically true babai, but he just wont go back to domestic cricket, simply no way .. atleast as long as dalmiya is there, ganguly cannot be brushed off

Just like here, players of highest caliber face MINOR LEAGUES if they fail to play well consistently for a considerable amount of time in a season (or spawning seasons)! Ganguly may not want to play in Domestic Cricket, but, if at all he is kicked out (looks like that he is), he would have to play DOMESTIC CRICKET if he wants to come back to the NATIONAL TEAM.

Chute (not Hindi Chute, English OnlyChute, your id), History doesn't matter. If you don't play for a loooooooooooong time (who knows how long has it been since he played for more than 1hr), you have to get out of the team - make way to youngsters or fellow teammates.

of course, chalam. Everyone has to face the consequences. How long do you give him. Eventually, he has to face the domestic cricket (if he continues his performance in the current lacklustre way) - what's wrong!? Nee lantolle county cricket adamani pampinchedi - instead of domestic cricket.

Denikaina oka limit untundi. Ganguly can always come back by proving everybody wrong in the domestic cricket. This is just unacceptable. Everyone has to learn a lesson and overcome the failures. He should be taken off the team, that'll give him a break. There's nothing wrong with that. In the just-concluded Test series, he totalled a paltry 48 at a meagre average of 9.6 before getting clean bowled off the first ball in the opening one-dayer in Kochi. He was equally dismal in his last seven ODIs where he totalled only 147 at an average of 21. His record in the last five limited-over matches opposite Pakistan was also miserable - an aggregate of 112 at 22.4 runs per innings.
