Baba okka saree idhi chadhu... http://www.expressindia.com/cricket/fulleistory.ph p?content_id=44475 Ganguly’s poor form led to Dhoni’s promotion Visakhapatnam, April 5: Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday admitted that his poor batting form had prompted the team management to promote young wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni to the number three position, a gamble which paid dividends for the team in the second ODI against Pakistan. Dhoni slammed his maiden century with a rollicking 148 which played a big part in India's 58-run victory against the arch rivals. "Promoting Dhoni was a team thought. Looking at the wicket in the morning we thought it would crumble in the later stages and we wanted to utilise the first 15 overs", Ganguly said after India took a 2-0 lead in the six-match series. "Since Dhoni can hit the ball hard and I would have taken some time to settle since I am not batting well we decided to send him up the order," he added. However, the pitch stood the test of time and played well for the entire 100 overs. Ganguly also conceded that Pakistan gave them a run for their money but said his team kept picking up wickets at regular intervals to maintain the upper hand. "Yes it was a close one. But chasing 357 on any wicket, anywhere, is not easy. And we kept on picking wickets which kept us in control," he said. The Indian captain acknowledged that the wicket was very good for batting and said it hardly helped the bowlers even when they were bowling in the rough. __________________________________________________ adhi sangathi the team management decided send dhoni in because banguly's bad form...anthe ante...mana banguly dhikku leka pampinchaadu..in addition banguly said team management ... which captain, vice captain and coach took decision together... inkeduku aa banguly bathuku waste...

They got their wish when Tendulkar (2) was run-out by a direct throw from Yousuf Youhana in the third over. But India had already scored 26, thanks to some big-hitting by Sehwag, who started his innings with an inside edge off Sami, but then proceeded to play superbly. Everyone had expected Ganguly to walk out after Tendulkar, but was greeted to the sight of a stockily-built Dhoni walking out. On one hand, it could have been greeted as a sign that India were looking to keep the momentum going. But, on the other, it was also an indication of the bad form that Ganguly has been in.

India defeated Pakistan by 58 runs to win the second one-dayer at Visakhapatnam and now lead the series 2-0. Chasing a mammoth 357 to win, Pakistan made a game of it thanks to a superlative effort by Abdul Razzaq 88 (87) and Youhana 71 (56). The huge Indian total was made possible by the surprise package of the day - Mahender Dhoni. The wicketkeeper-batsman, promoted to number three, smashed 148 off just 123 balls. Along with Virender Sehwag 74 (40), Dhoni struck a 96-run partnership. Full marks to skipper Ganguly for the decision. Man of the match Dhoni's maiden ODI ton consisted of 16 hits to the fence and four huge sixes. The Pak bowlers had no respite from the other end with Sehwag belting boundaries at will. Sehwag slammed Afridi for 4 consecutive boundaries in the 11th over of the innings! Rahul Dravid's classy knock of 52 from 59 balls was lost in the sheer display of power batting by Dhoni and Sehwag. Zaheer Khan chipped in with a useful 17 from just 9 balls. The total of 356 was India's highest ever against Pakistan in the shorter version of the game. Chasing 357 was never going to be easy and Pakistan got off to a bad start with the big-hitting Afridi dismissed for a duck. Ashish Nehra got the big wicket when he clean bowled Afridi. But Pakistan kept up with the chase, not letting the run rate drop. The visitors had progressed to 89 in the 13th over when Nehra struck for the second time in the shape of Salman Butt's (36 from 32 balls) wicket. The stage was set for Inzamam to play a skipper's knock but once again the Pak skipper was run out for 16 (13). But from the other end Razzaq was trying to play just like Dhoni and succeeding much to India's dismay. Razzaq (88 from 84 balls) was finally brilliantly caught behind by Dhoni off Yuvraj Singh. With wickets falling from the other end, Youhana kept his cool and accumulated runs at a fierce pace. India heaved a sigh of relief with Youhana caught by Kaif off Nehra for 71 off 56 balls. Kamran Akmal (41 from 28 balls) made a late charge but by that time it was just too late in the day. http://cricket.indiatimes.com/arts/1068395.cms
