Correct Idiot mama. Wasim inswinging yorkers too much master chesadu. While bowling to right handers, he delivers such a way, batsman would expect the ball to leave outside offstump. But after the ball pitched, it will straight up and kiss the pads in front of wickets. I saw such dismissmissals number of times. |

what a bowler he is. we can never predict ehich way he is going to swing the ball and ofcourse his weapon was the swinging yorker. i always wondered how could he generate pace with such a short run up. when we talk about akram we shouldn't forget his partner waqar. what a deadly combination it was. |

Wasim Akram:
When ever captain wants a wicket or control the runrate, he will hand over the ball to one man in pakistan team. He is none other than Wasim Akram
His looks are furious. while taking a run up he looks like a panther. With very few steps he reaches the crease at bowling end and unleash the weapon. Ball will do the rest of the damage. Especially his reverse swing is unstopable. He delivers it with full control. He is very successful in bowling yorkers. All this comes at high speed from a quick, ball-concealing action, and is backed up by the threat of a dangerous bouncer or deceptive slower delivery.
He becomes more intimidating as the ball gets older. With the old ball he can do wonders. As per my observation his first over is tries to get into grove and he is playable. Right from second over he starts showing the batsmen their way to pavilion.
With out any doubt he can be termed as a best left hand bowler in cricket history. Added to his bowling he is a hard hitting batsman who can produce good amount of runs in the final overs.
playing 18 years of cricket as a bowler is not at all easy. Even though he has serious diabetes problem, he entertained cricket fans with his bowling. I always wish India should have a player like Wasim akram.
Some Facts about akram:
He is the only bowler in ODI history to claim 500 wickets.
He is man of the match in 1992 world cup final. He scored 33 runs in 19 balls and claimed 3 wickets.
He is the only fast bowler who claimed 900+ (502 in ODIs & 414 tests) international wickets. Still he holds record for claming most number of international wickets.
He scored 3700 runs in ODIs and claimed 500+ wickets.

Yeah usually white skin players are more agressive than our sub continent players. Obviously they show their frustration.
Also its a strategy to agitate the batsman to throw their bats. When a batsman get furious on that bowler and hit 5 boundaries in that over and get out to the last ball, at end the bowler is the who won the battle. |

yeah this guy has a very smooth bowling action. i still remember the delivery and his celbrations after he got the wicket of sachin. he is one of the main reasons for the success of SA. he has terrific strike rate and average in test cricket. he could bowl at 140 kmph consistently. |

One of the Genuine fast bowlers who can make batsman life tough at the wickets. I hardly saw him bowling an easy ball. Its really hard for any fast bowler to maintain such a tight Line and length with the speed he bowls. Couple of times i saw him breaking the stumps. Beauty of his bowling is his bowling action. Right from his run up everything seems to be well synchronised. His deadliest weapon is the bouncer. He can get the bouncer out of a Sub-continent dead pitches.
One of the best deliveries i saw from him is a inswinger bowled to sachin in First Test at Durban in 1996. Sachin tried to put his bat, leg, body, but the ball came like a cannonball and routed the stumps.
At one point of time most of the batsmen around the world forgot about scoring runs and tried to just survive Allan's bowling spell. |

the very first cricketer i ever knew is kapildev. i still remember the pic of kapil holding the prudential cup with a huge smile on his face.
the man who held the record for highest number of wickets in both forms of cricket when he retired from international cricket, hails from chandgarh. he was famous for his late out swingers. he played 131 matches for his 434 test wickets and 225 ODIs for his 253 wickets. may be he is the first world class pace bowler india has ever produced. he got most of his wickets on the dead pitches of the sub continent. he never had a real good partner at the other end through out his career. he never missed a match for fitness problems throught his career, which lasted more than 15 years. he used to bowl very close to the stumps which made his outswingers more effective. he had a typical bowling action which is called side on action i guess.
he was a clean striker of the ball and made very useful contributions with his bat in the lower order. he scored more than 5000 test runs. his heroics with bat include 175 no against zimbabwe in 1975 world cup and his 4 sixes of hemmings to avoid followon against england. he is considered to be one of the best allrounders along with botham, imran and hadlee. IMO he is the last "genuine" allrounder that india has produced.
without any hesitation i can say he inspired lot of youngsters from india to become fast bowlers.
he encouraged santi gadu to drink boost through his TV ads and boosted the sales of boost.

everyone talks about tendulkars and laras but there is another exciting part of cricket i.e fast bowling. we always talk about the straight drives of tendulkar and cover drives of lara but a genuine fast bowler shattering the stumps of a good batsmen is equally exciting to watch. i will write about some of the great fast bowlers i have seen in action.  |
