I knew the diaries was about the formative years of the rebel before hand. Yet, I expected something groundbreaking from this similar to those of other sympathetic movies on proletariat revolutions, as i generally do not read reviews unless i decide not to watch a particular movie. I found his encounters too simple to launch a rebellion of that magnitude.Watched another movie called "THE PERFECT SCORE" yesterday, as it had an interesting plot-few disgruntled teenagers attempt to break into a test center and steal the answers to ace the SAT. It had a fresh idea, but the narration wandered after a promising start. (Actually, it was the following article that made me to rent this movie in the first place). http://www.hindu.com/2005/06/20/stories/2005062001 561000.htm |

>>>I expected a lot from this movie as I read a lot more about Che Guevera Same here..I expected more but still like the film for whatever it is.. the film afterall was meant to be more of a 'The making of Che' rather than a biopic on Che's life. >>do u all bow when passing THE Palace ? Bow ??? Bend we certainly do..our posteriors aimed at the Palace that is... :-) |

Motorcycle diaries....interesting to know that someone watched it here. Pure Sundance stuff. But would have been better had they made it in English. I expected a lot from this movie as I read a lot more about Che Guevera. |

chame pinch bhrigu..one wishes one was part of that era...it is the times one is in that shapes ones being..precisly why todays kids are so hollow ...the film has set me thinking.. might be misplaced idealism..but that gen had the balls to question and not merely conform.. |

Fantabulous !!! have my own complaints about some issues with the movie but the span, direction, performances were UP there. the fact that he even attempted something like this was remarkable - as some reviewer said, this is a MUST watch for many of the Generation X kids in India today. kids who frequent malls and talk in hinglish should realize what their counterparts did in much more interesting times back then. I REALLY miss not being part of the milieu then, wrong or right- folk had ideology and a conviction and this movie captures it oh-so-beautifully. Full marks to Sudhir Mishra. My grouse: why did he leave out what was going through the college kids minds during the 1971 war ? he briefly showed the congress internal equations but glossed over the 69 congress split. some more time there would have been very nice. I can understand that the director did not want to make it an overly political movie but then 10 more minutes to the already long drama would have rendered it complete. |

Finally saw the film..Brilliant..the kind of film I had been waiting for all these days..but why o\does such an excellent film have to have such a tame ending..the ending was laughable...am i missing the point? not sure if it was meant to signify something that I am missing...man the digs at congress !!!! dumpy, paddy and the doon school references...wonder why the congress isnt seeing 'red' over this...they after all have a history of intolerance against criticism... |
