Well.. I have a different opinion on the movie.
First half hour of the movie was boring (I was literally dozing off). The same old master student training ( Gimme a break.. how many movies in the past we saw a master teaching studednt how to conquer this and that). I do agree it was important for the story but it could have been cut short to make the movie more gripping.The movie lacked few superheroish dialogues like the one in "Spidy" with great power comes great responsibility. The movie also lacked the charm that rest of the super hero films have.
I liked Katie holmes more for looks of hers. Given the part she was offered she did her best(I thought). The movie had stellar cast(which is a strong point).. Morgan freeman with his usual smiling face and his quip and crisp diaolgues, was a relief.Micheal kane was great especially in scenes he playfully chides batman for his adventures.
Overall i thought the rating in IMDB was little exaggerated. |

never read the comics, but storry telusu..
ee yr lo best movie, i will rate it better than starwars3 and sin city. |

Watched the movie yesterday with decent expectations since i heard a lot of people say good things and for the director Nolan
The best thing rooting for this movie is the script. Other than the fact that its a batman movie, there is no indication of any sort of hangover from the previous installments.
Finally DC comics can rub shoulders with their counterparts at Marvel who bask in the success of their Spiderman and XMen franchises
Script: The big difference between "Begins" and the rest of the Batman movies in this department is that this can infact claim one to speak of. It gets into the psyche of Bruce Wayne, his history with bats and his gripe with crime, his quest for elucidation.
Actors: Christian Bale was the surprise package for various reasons. Id prolly seen him in some movie before but never noticed him and boy does he do a fine job. Ever the quintessential "hero", having a scarred past, on a quest for answers, counseled by a mentor, aquired and honed his new found skills and ready to kick some criminal posterior.
Those of you who still follow the comics will do better to comment on the chareters of RAG and Scare Crow. I couldnt picture Liam Neeson as a villan even if my life depended on it and speaking for myself he came off as a person with a different solution to fight crime. It may have been a deliberate move by Nolan though.
ScareCrow was adequate, Morgan Freeman like wise.
The biggest miscast was Katie Holmes, She looks old acts old and every thing about her is ....well.... old. She is that annoying piece of a jigsaw puzzle you spend the most time trying to fit...and realize its from another puzzle all togeather.
One last transgression by Nolan was the casting of Micheal Caine as the butler. An actor of his calibre had no business being Bruce Waynes domestic help...all though Ive seen worse...
Thank god there is no robin....the guy makes batman look gay and im not even homophobic
Gadgets:Nothing to write home about. Standard Batman issue, but the source for all these toys is much more convincing. The batmobile felt like an overgrown drill bit. It was in starl contrast to the whole theme of invisiblity that Batmans personality exudes. Is so antibatmanisque it would even stick out at a Saturn dealership.
Nolan scores more marks in the screenplay dept than as a director. god bless warner bros for a good Batman movie, the only one might I add.
