Salman Khan finds himself caught in the middle of a row between archrivals Chhota Rajan and Chhota Shakeel over his infamous taped conversations with Aishwarya Rai, in which he bragged about his underworld connections.
Mid Day yesterday spoke to both dons. Rajan said Abu Salem and him knew Salman well when they worked for Dawood Ibrahim, confirming a report in Tehelka on the same issue. But when we spoke to Chhota Shakeel, the don said Rajan “has lost his mind”.
‘Salman aya, khana-wana khaya’
Arch-emenies Chhota Rajan and Chhota Shakeel yesterday got into a panga over Salman Khan, and the broader issue of Bolywood’s links with the underworld. Here’s what they told Mid Day.

Haan, maine kisi patrakar se baat kiya tha Salman ke bare mein. Subah se kafi call ho chuke hain.

1992 mein jab main uske saath kam karta tha, tab woh Dubai ek heroine ke saath aaya tha. Khana-wana khaya aur kuch baate Bollywood ke karke chala gaya.
Kya aap bata sakte ho ki woh actress kaun thi?
Main itna hi bata sakta hoon ki woh ek Pakistani thi, aur Bollywood mein nayi thi.
Kya Salman ki baatcheet thi Abu Salem ke saath?
Abu ke paas Bollywood ka sara kaam tha, woh (Dawood) ke liye shows aur film finance dekhta tha. Zaroor contact mein raha hai. Jab bhi show karna hota hai toh baat karni hoti hai.
Kya aapne Salman jaise doosre Bollywood kalakaron se baat ki hain?

Police had "tapped" Salman's phone in 2001: Govt
Mumbai, July 21. (PTI) Maharashtra Government on Wednesday confirmed that the police had `tapped' Salman Khan's phone in 2001 after receiving information that calls were made to underworld don Abu Salem from the actor's phone.
Making a statement in the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said the phone of the actor was monitored between August and October 2001 after obtaining necessary approval from the competent authority.
"Information was received on August 27, 2001 that calls were being made to Salem from a phone. The phone was monitored between August 28 and October 25, 2001 after obtaining necessary approval of the competent authority. It was found that the phone belonged to Salman", the Minister said.
"An audio tape of the purported conversation between Salman and actress Aishwarya Rai, which was published in Hindustan Times and aired on TV channels, was obtained", he said.
"Transcripts of the conversation in the audio cassette were taken. Statements and voice samples of Salman and Aishwarya were also recorded," Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, told the House. |
