probably she asked u to call the cops since the husband since she is busy geting abused by her husband and if she goes to the phone, the husband might harm her more.
she may have asked you to call next time since she might be giving a last chance to her husband so he doesnt repeat it again.

Venu, I don't think, there will be any problem if you call 911.
When I initially came to this country, my friend just for curiosity dialed 911 and when it was ringing, he put off the phone thinking that he might land in troubles since he called unncessarily. Immediately the people from 911 called him back and asked him about his problem. This fellow cooked up some story( that there was a small fire accident blah blah) and told them that he is fine.
I myself called couple of times 911. I called 911 when I had a big accident in California. Also recently when some one snatched my neighbour's bag, I called 911. Their service always was very very good, quick and prompt. In both the instances, they rushed to the scene in less than 3 minutes.I hope even in India, they should start implementing something like this. |

Hey every one,
Yesterday I had a strange encounter!! I was about to get to bed at about 10.30PM when some one started banging my door!! I was first scared as I really don't expect some one in that night that too when raining heavily!! But than as I opened the door it was my neighbour!!
That lady, was weeping!! She started saying that her Ex Husband(whom I saw before in front of their apartment) came to her house and tried to physically abuse her and she yelled for help but due to rain no one heard her!! She requested me, if I hear next time I should call 911 and report. She said she could not reach for Cell phone when that person was trying to abuse her!!
What I did not understand is:
Why she did not call 911??
Why she asked me to call 911??
If I call 911 any time to help her, will it be safe or will I be in trouble??
Will I have problems with her Ex Husband??
Will I have problems with Cops??
