MOSCOW/NEW DELHI: The Polish police have set up a crack squad to trace an Indian national kidnapped in Warsaw on April 20 by some unidentified men in police uniform, who have demanded a ransom of about Rs 11 crore. An employee of an Indian textile firm, 37-year-old Harish Hitange of Nasik in Maharasthra was abducted on his way to office. He was living in the Polish capital with his family. His kidnappers, demanding a ransom of two million euros, have chopped off three of his fingers, which were reportedly later left in bottles in different parts of Warsaw. "We are maintaining highest level contacts with the Polish foreign and interior ministries and local police," Indian Ambassador to Poland Anil Wadhwa said on phone. They had set up a "crack police squad" to track down the kidnappers and free Hitange, he added. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/804 678.cms http://in.rediff.com/news/2004/aug/05poland.htm
