Rowdies are on loose. The extortion culture once again showing its face. Dharmavaram is the target town, known for Crores of rupees business. When they express their inability to pay the money, they take the name of Suri, the mastermind behind the murder of Paritala Ravi.
It is said that these rowdies collected more than a crore rupees, may be up to three crores. But the victims are afraid to make statements lest they may strike again. The major complaint they make is about the silence of Police. “They are not at all bothered about our problems” says one of the victims. “We cannot say publicly how much amount they are demanding. They are even threatening small businessmen. They pull out a dagger or any other weapon and threaten us with dire consequences, one of the victims lamented. They just telephone and say they were the men of Suri or and other notorious rowdy and demand money. Even the businessmen of Dharmavaram took out a procession demanding the Government to take immediate action and to arrest this kind of extortion at dagger point. The locals say that after Congress rule began the rowdy sheets and extortionists returned.
