In a meeting that took place between the Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy and the representatives of the film industry, the following decisions were taken. It is resolved to drop the 22-year-old slab system for levying entertainemtnt tax in the theaters in select citites in the state. Other areas will be looked after by the municipal authorities concerned. The ET on tickets for big budget movies is cut by 15 per cent, and for the slim-budget movies, it would be 7 percent. In order to encourage more number of middleclass viewers, the balcony tickets would be reduced by 30 percent and the number of seats would be increased in the theaters. Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) would head the committee to look into the increasing demand for setting up of multiplexes in various cities in the state. A single window system would be adopted for granting shooting permissions. The first category locations would be charged at Rs 5,000/- per day; and Rs 10,000/- and Rs. 15,000/- for the second and third categories respectively.
