Let me tell you situation in my village. In my village no body needs free power, and everybody pays for the usage. Still, they don't follow the schedule for power cut even now, and there is no reason why they shouldn't have power all the time now. Are the people who live in villages not humans?
Don't forget that most of the people who live in towns work as clerks or doing small time jobs in shops. They are the ones who will be more frustrated than anybody elese with raising commodity prices. They will be obviously very unhappy when they hear about scams, where as they are having tough time to survive. People always vent their anger on the government. They may give benefit of doubt to congress this time, but definitely not for the assembly elections.
In my opinion, CBN won his second term because of Raitu Bazaar. Every housewife in towns used to save lot of money because of Raitu Bazaar. Same people are pissed with CBN because of Power price hike. |

I think TRS will be washed out in these elections. At the end of the day Congress is going to win the majority. There is an element of anti-incumbency but I don't think it is strong enough. Had the left parties shifted the support to TDP, that would have been a blow to cong. But as long as left supoorts cong. at the federal level, it is not going to happen. Govt can influence indirect elections only after the election at the time of electing Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Muncipal chairman, Vice chairman and Standing council members.
But we can easily estimate what is the percentage of votes TDP or Cong gained with the number of councellors, corporators they win.
No need to look for Chairmans, Mayors.
horse trading only comes into picture after election.

As per me, these elections became a farse when they removed direct elections to Mayor post. Now there will be a lot of horse trading and usually ruling party will have upper hand in such businesses and above that Congress people are experts in this NAYANO/BAYANO attittude!
Coming to TDP gaining popularity, no doubt already people are frustrated with Congress, but don't know whether that is so much as to make TDP sweep the polls! |

I don't know why some people(not you) having more hopes on CBN and TDP.
as per my observation TDP will not get more than 30% seats. Still people are not ready to accept CBN and TDP, don't beleive the media.
Maybe we can expect a change in Local body elections in 2006.
