Durga,
Maadi gudiwada daggirey. WHy don't you talk to your sources and find out whether TDP paid 1200 per vote or not in some areas. This is absolutely true and that is the reason TDP won. I would love to say TDP didn't spend any money and still won the seat,But that is not true.
Kudos to Nani for pulling a win in such a tough situation.
TDP needs people like Nani and Uma, not people lile Ummareddy Venkateswarlu,Kodela, Boddu Bhaskara Ramarao, Alapati Rajendra who made lot of money, but don't spend any for the party.
Following congress MP's in coastal area are stinkingly rich and causing/going to cause lot of pain for TDP.

I think TDP has to dump old guys and go for guys like Nani and Uma maheswara Rao. Thats exactly what INC did in 2004. Most of the congress MLA's and MP's are younger than their TDP opponents in 2004 election. |

I am from Pamarru mandal in Gudiwada assembly constituency. Nani&Co spent 1 crore on 23rd night in Gudiwada. They gave 1200 per vote in some areas of Gudiwada. Until 23rd evening everybody thought congress was going to win. YSR, KK, Purandareswari, Rosaiah, JC, Pinnamaneni Koteswarsa Rao & his son ( minister ), DCC president Segu campaigned for congress. CBN came to gudiwada once and rest of the campaigning and burden taken care by Nani himself. Krishna DT DCC president is also from Gudiwada. Actually Congress selected better candidates than TDP. Finally TDP & Nani emerged as a winner. It is very rare somebody winning elections with out spending money in Coastal areas these days. TDP happens to spend more money in Gudiwada at the last minute. Thats one reason why it's victorious. I know a person called Potluri Krishna Rao. He is an ass.... and still he won in GUdiwada on behalf of TDP. Its all Money power. |

Unlike villages, you cannot control donga voting in cities/towns.
I cannot speak for other aras. But I can tell for sure money made difference in Gudiwada. Until 23 rd evening, talk of the town is INC is going to win in Gudiwada,comfortably, but the situation changed overnight. INC was over confident and on 23rd night Nani& Co spent lot of money. Donga identification cards played major role in my opinion. |

I will give you ward level breakup very soon. I sincerely feel INC planned everything carefully and am sure they managed atleast 50-75 donga votes in most of the wards in coporations and major municipalities. That can cause lot of pain. Remember that most of the govt employees are against TDP and even police cadre got very good pay hike recently. They were able to get identification cards to donga voters very easily.
Hadn't they planned carefully in Nellore, TDP should have won that seat. Actually TDP won more seats than INC in Nellore, but not enough to capture corporation.
I can tell you for sure in Tadepalli gudem, the difference was 2 wards, In Palakollu, it is 2-3 wards diff, Tanuku - 3 wards diff. Srikakulam INC-TDP 20-15, Itchapuram 12-10, Aamudalavalasa 13-8, Saluru 14-12 or 12-10.
Actually TDP's performance was bad in Rayalaseema and Guntur distrcits. TDP won majority seats in Guntakal and TDP and INC got same no of seats in Dharmavaram. Even in Medak TDP got same no of seats as INC. In Kareemnagar they got more seats than INC. TDP's performance improved a lot in Telangana. |

That was good analysis. Can we get ward level break up with majorities so that can get a very clear picture? I know when elections to municipal chairpersons is indirect than wards become important and even a manupulation of 50 votes in each ward can get a chairperson!! |

Though TDP didn't win any seat, all three seats they lost with narrow majority
Vijayanagaram: They did ok in Vijayanagaram triangular contest. They lost very closely in Saluru. They lost Bobbili and Paravatipuram with big margins
Visakhapatnam: They won Bheemili comfortably, but lost Anakapalli with vast majority
WG: They lost Tanuku, Tadepalligudem,Palakollu very closely.
They lost Kovvur,Nidadavolu with medium majority
Won Bheemavaram with decent majority
EG: TD won majority in AMalapuram, Pitapuram but may not be enough to capture municipal chairman. Thanks to indirect election. They won Mandapeta.
But lost Ramachandra puram, Pedda puram, Samarla kota, Kakinada with medium to high majority
Krishna: Surprising is in Gudiwada. It was supposed to be won by INC. But TDP spent lot of money overnight and gave almost 1200 per vote in some areas. As predicted TDP won Pedana and INC won Nuziveedu and Jaggayyapeta
Guntur: Don't know detailed results. If I remember correctly, TDP won around 15 seats in Guntur COrporation
TDP fared better than expectations in Nellore, Gudur and Markapuram areas.
Worst performance by TDP is in Punganuru and Palamaneru. Definitely INC managed atleast 50-75 donga voters in every ward/seat. That many votes is enough to decide each ward/seat.
TDP's performance is worst in Rayalaseema area, except DHarmavaram and Guntakal. In Guntakal they got majority, but may be not enough to capture the municipality. |
