http://andhravilas.com/moviereviews.asp?id=166 Above Average Veerabhadra sounds powerful and daring but excessive action elements mar the story of its commercial value. While the plot of this movie is relatively interesting, this movie is really about two things, affections to do with the sister and then the sordid revenge drama. This film is way better than previous Balakrishna films and the dialogues are redeeming enough to excite Ballaiah's fans. First, the actor get to do the character he is best at and he completely knows how to do it. In his typical emotionally charged self, Balakrishna hams it up in the outlandish, larger-than-life way that he often does. Despite what could be seen as overacting by him, the almost absurd disparity between him and Shayaji Shinde is one of central things that makes this movie work. Second, this movie has the most daring action sequences of any telugu action movie and Peter Hein gets the credit for it. However some final scenes by him have been replaced for obvious reasons. This is a film that knows it's an action movie and revels in it. The cinematography in the fight scenes simultaneously displays the nature of the characters and the intensity of the battle between them. There are so many moments when you will just delight at the visual art that is every action sequence in this film. Needless to say, this movie has all the masala that one would expect but an overdose of sentiment does it in. While the first half of the film is adequate with all the commercial ingredients and maintains the suspense as to why the villain and his brothers are after Balakrishna, the plot thickens post interval. A flash back shows that Balakrishna's step sister is victimised by Shayaji Shinde for settling scores with the hero.Tanushree Datta's debut in telugu films as the villain's brother who falls for Balakrishna looks gamorous in her costumes (thanks to the new designer Raminnei), she is convincing but could have done much better. Sada has not much to. A mild surprise by Ambika Krishna, the producer is dished out when he appears like Subhash Gai the showman, as a lawyer in a cameo here. Balakrishna's dialogues penned by Marudhuri Raja comes up trumps and the audience goes berserk when he says Narakatam Modhalu pettanu ante ey mukka evaridho telchukovadaniki varam paduthundi ra. He apparently says this when gets Shayaji Shinde released from the cell and walks into his house like a tiger unleashed and warns him. Balaliah carrying his handicapped sister to collge everday looks a bit unrealistic but that's cinema. Comedy track by Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav acts as a filler and songs except for one or two is not worth mentioning. The hero could have done without his curly fringe, it doesn't suit him at all. All in all the film is an average entertainer and will surely succeed in thrilling Ballaiah's fans. Performances-- Balakrishna used to do such roles with ease. The film is packed with sentiment and action in which Balaiah satisfy his fans without any doubt. Powerful dialogue delivery of Balaiah influences the film and lengthen the life of the film. He proves his action with sister sentiment episode of the film. Fighting part of the film is good- and Fight Master Peter must be appreciated. Composed the fights that suits Balaiah body language Thanu Sree Dutta is being introduced to Tollywood with this film, She performed well in Songs, she is very much assured bright future in Tollywood, provided she is willing to continue in Tollywood. Song sequences with Balaiah makes the fans to stand up on the benches. Sada has nothing to perform, no importance is given to Sada role. Talented artist Sada couldn't cope up in Tollywood even after working with Top stars. We can't expect any positive future for Sada from this film. Prakash raj's action is making a fish to swim. Extraordinary action and one can expect Nandi award for his action in this film. Shiyaji Shinde- a common villain appears in all the Telugu films ,but he started his carrier as stage artist- so we don't find any monotony in his action. He is good Villain from Mumbai with his own voice for dubbing -shown altogether different villainous in the film. Peter Hynes- Fight master definitely satisfy Balaiah's fans. Action parts of the film are well handled by fight master. We find stamp of his own in every fight sequence. Director-this is only second film of director Ravi Kumar Choudary. We can't expect much from him for his second film. He lucky enough that he got the chance to direct Balaiah as his second film. He has done his job without any controversies. Music by Manisharma is decent, Art work is Ok, Visual effects are good Finally , we can easily say this film will not be another Allari Pidugu but at the same we can't put it as Samarasimha Reddy range. It is an average film and definitely fulfill the Balaiah's fans satisfaction. |
