yaa if the company is enterprise level in multinational presence they should set different currencies different salary grades,different benefit plans ,maintain employee data job data of employee in diff countries..do event maintenance

if a company wants to implement a new peoplesoft project?they should have to setup the env to start working or business and funtional people decide how the installtaions should bedone business units n set ids

Before the ERP it was all mainframes...so the fucntional people come in and document the AS IS to how they want the new erp system to be used |

The below mentioned Positions remain the same for any ERP like SAP or Peoplesoft or Oracle Apps...
coming to the Size of the Team it depends upon the size of the company and area:
FINANCIAL Companies or Insurance Companies or Mortage Companies have very big Team Sizes
Manufacturing have medium size but depends upon the transactions handled..
Non Profit and Educational have small Teams....
Each Module will have atleast one Functional one developer
Like in Financials they will one Functional for General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable etc
And in HRMS they will have one for PAYROLL,BENEFITS and COMPENSATION etc...
The developers will be a couple to each Functional Person...
There will be atleast 2 DBA's
In Peoplesoft there is another position called "TECHNO FUNCTIONAL" who does both.... |

Ok about the positions...I will tell all in reference with HRMS package or Financials Package
Functional: These people know how the business is done from the times before the Information Technology and Internet was present...So the SET UP the clients environment etc..Like for HRMS...back in golden days they used to one box(like a mail box for each employee) to keep track of his pay and hike and benefits etc. For Financials...Order to Cash or Procure to Pay called Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable..The functional people also build specs for the tehnical people
Technical: These people usually do the technical stuff like new customizations, Building reports. Adding new pages, Doing Tax Updates for HRMS etc. Build Reports using SQR (Structred Query Language, Crsytal Reports, and n-vision (mainly for GL Financial Reporting...
Business Analyst: These people do the Project Management...Like from Gathering the specs for the project..assigning work for the developers....and also work with the QA Team...and also end user training
DBA- The ERP DBA's are very hihgly paid jobs also..They do build TEST Environments like DEV,TST and STAGE etc...They apply patches to the database and also the Peoplesoft APplication.They handle the migrations from Test to PROD etc... |
