Nope you cnat keep your Labour Priority Date with you ...
If you want to use this Labour priority date, you must have applied for I-485 and worked atleast 180 days from the date your 485 applied then only you can carry this GC along with you ...

Naaku MS degree undi. So I will be asking my company to file EB2. Kaani, If I change company after my labor application gets approved, can I keep my labor application date?

My company pays my GC expenses. So I want to start my GC process if I can keep my labor application date. Also, I have "plans" to move, but it all depends on whether I will be able to find a better position etc. |

U can change employers once u file your 485 and u work there for 180 days.
U can use AC21 provision here.

First of all it is I-485.
If u start your GC process first they will file labor. If it is a big company they take like 3-4 months for paper work, since they need to advertise and do that stuff.
So at the current rate u might get your labour in 6-12months.
Again u didn't mention your qualification.
If u have just B.Tech and like 2 years exp then u need to go for EB3.
Normally companies prefer to file for EB3.
If u are PHD or something like that u can go for EB1.
Let's assume u r EB3.
Right now Priority date (means your Labor application date) is jan or feb 2001.
So yours will be Aug or Sep 2008, if they don't make any law changes u won't be able to file your 485 for another 5,6 years.
If u r in EB2 it is March 2004 and u might be able to file in 3-4 years.
If u r in EB1 it is always current and u can file any time.
Again this is with current scenario.
Immigration guys changes laws any time.

Hello all,
I have been a ROM member of this DB for some time, and know that there are quite a few experienced guys here. I working in the electronics (semiconductor) industry as a design engineer. For some time my company has been pushing me to start my GC process. My H1 started in Dec 2006. I have plans to change my company by the end of this year, and hence have a question regarding my GC.
1. If I start my GC process now, how long will it take for me to file I-480 (second stage, not sure if the document number is correct).
2. I know we get a "date" when we file the I-480 application. After I am done with that, will I be able to keep my date if I change my company?
Any responses are greatly appreciated.
