ubuntu baguntundi kani... fedora naku more polished anipinchindi ubuntu kante. Ubuntu user community chala ekkuva. They have solution for every problem.
I installed Ubuntu and then Fedora on my dell vostro 1400.. And I like fedora 9 better than ubuntu 8. But ubuntu has more user community than fedora

Opensource: After Some time (once open source is get fmilier) not free (support)nothing free after What the XXck we are going to do with it wioth out support.
really depends on the community of that opensource, if it has really big community like fedora(still alive donno), centos thats good or else suks...if u could get source u could build rpms on ur own for wuteva distro u want

fedora, ubuntu linux distros are amazing. These days they are more user friendly. But linux is not suitable for common man yet. I use fedora, ubuntu in my home pc's

Need atleast 2GB ram, faster processor, atleast 70 GB hardddrive
May need to reboot once a week often blue screen of death, no proper driver support. Updates will break existing hardware
Mac osX $99 No Virus, atleast 2GB ram, good processor
Linux $0 .. Updates Free, patches free. only thing is UI not polished enough for common users. 
No Virus software
No spy ware software
can run with 256 MB ram, P3 machines decent performance. 20 Gb Hard drive?
