Jagan: Jyothy violated ethics code
Unmindful of the protests by journalists across the state against the Andhra Jyothy editor K Srinivas, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s son and Sakshi daily chairman Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has indirectly supported the police action.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday at Kadapa, Jagan Reddy said that describing Dalits and BC’s as ‘Baaduga Nethalu’ was clearly violation of newspaper ethics and values. For the welfare of journalists of Sakshi Telugu Daily, Jagan Reddy said that he would be establishing a ‘Journalist Welfare Fund’ with Rs.1 crore.
He further said that he would give Rs.1 lakh from the welfare fund to the family of an employee of Sakshi, if they died in service.
Taking credit of high salaries to journalists, Jagan said that all newspaper managements had raised the salaries to compete with those offered by Sakshi. He also advised fellow newspaper managements particularly Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy to set up a ‘Journalist Welfare Fund’ like Sakshi. “If other newspaper managements fail to set up a welfare fund, I will establish one with Rs.1 crore,” Jagan said.
