and these 5 countries are members of security council.(UK, france, russia, china, us)
even israel, pak, north korea;
(maybe) germany, south africa, brazil conducted nuclear tests along with india. but they too are not nuclear weapon states. |

china has the status of nuclear weapons state, and by virtue of being a nuclear weapons state they were able to get what they wanted. and if i am not wrong china also signed NPT. we are not given a status of nuclear weapons state. so we cant compare ourselves with china.
we will not have any problems with USA. this 123 agreement is no longer a bilateral agreement between USA and india. after getting NSG waiver it becomes an international agreement and we are going to sign deals with russia, france, nigeria etc on the condition of perpetual suplly of the fuel.
even if usa terminates the deal there are ample clauses in the 123 and safegaurds agreements that we dont have to worry. (right to have strategic reserve, right to take corrective measures in the event of termination of the deal)
infact these measures are enough incentive for the supplier countries to supply fuel continuously. |

we did a right thing by voting against iran in IAEA. as every knows iran is not so friendly as portrayed by these bastards.
iran always wanted sanctions to stay on india which is not a party to NPT. they opposed we conducting nuclear tests.
they always condemn india on J&K in international islamic bodies like OIC.
they dont stick to a stand on many issues as demonstrated by the pipeline and kudremukh coal imports issues.
how can anyone expect us to vote in favour of iran! it beats me. |

nuclear power - current installed capacity is 4000+ MW. they are operating at 45% capacity because of lack of sufficient fuel.
nearly 150 tonnes/year of enriched uranium is required to produce 1000 MW. we are not even in a position to produce 300 tonnes per year currently.
even if all the new mining plants in cuddapah, jharkhand, meghalaya become operational we cant produce more than 680 tonnes annually. remember our set goal is to produce 30,000 MW by 2030 through nuclear power. it is impossible without importing the fuel.
till now our nuclear program, R&D suffered because our scientists are alienated in R&D. from now on our scientists can get all the help from other countries.
annually 1 lakh tonnes of uranium is used by the whole world and there are not more than 80 lakh tonnes of uranium in the world(optimistic estimates).
many countries are building reactors like china, argentina, brazil etc. china wants to add atleast 40,000 MW to its existing capacity between 2010-20.
it is well known that there is fierce competetion for the fuel and even if NSG approves the deal, we may not get the required fuel immediately. so we should hurry.
inorder to use thorium in the third stage of our nuclear program, we should be able to produce more power in the current stage at a faster rate through fast breeder reactors. again we need imported fuel for this.(atleast 40,000 MW worth fuel)
CO2 emissions can be reduced by billions of tonnes in the coming years as nuclear power is environmental friendly.
our indigenous coal deposits will be exhausted with in next 40 years. currently one tonne coal costs around 100$. it will increase fastly as the demand increases.
there is strong possibility that a point will come in near future where nuclear power is cheaper than coal power. currently it is slightly above that cost. also this environmetally not friendly. |
