MCC accepts that the use of a 'switch-hit' may have implications for other Laws of the game, principally Law 25 (Wide ball) and Law 36 (LBW), and will continue to research and discuss these implications.," the statement went on to say space for lease |

The MCC statement highlighted Law 36.3 which defines the off side of the striker's wicket as being determined by his stance at the moment the bowler starts his run-up.

thanks for the info guys, I think i din't shoot the question in right prespective. Is there any rule in cricket to put restriction on batsmen taking different hand guards in the same innings? I was told by someone that the wide rule which i was telling above is to make the batsman feel that changing strike every often (will result in time-waste for field adjustment etc) is at his own risk. |

its simple mama 1. He can take both hand strikes in an over 2. Wide rule applies to the hand strike he is taken for that ball. |

The question is -> Can a batsman take Left and Right hand guard in the same innings (even before the bowler's action is started)? If he can, does the wide rules apply for the guard which he has taken first? For ex: A batsman took right hand strike in the first over. He changed his strike to left Hand in the second over. Does the wide rules apply for Right hand strike in the second over? Can someone please clarify? If there is any web link explaining the cricket rules that would be great.. |
