sinnodu, sometimes /etc/ssh/sshd_config access might be denied, so okka pani cheyyi, source ninchi destination ki do a sftp -vv <userid>@<hostname> it would normal pop out all the info as you are setting the debug level so emana issues unte u can go to ur unix admin, I bet you wont' have the access to edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config

Is it necessary that both the host server and destination server have that feature enabled on?. Also sftp ki syntax enti connect ayi ftp cheyyataniki?. Any help is welcome and koddigaa urgent kuda

Sinnodu maama before putting it in script u try it manually.
U will need 2 things.
1> please check sshd.config and make sure sftp is not commented, it will be towards the end, by default it is disabled.
2>Then to make your script works u will need public key authentication enabled and u should have keys setup.
It is pretty easy and safe when compared to ftp.
Also u can just use scp if it is just 1 file, why do u need sftp.
