There is an old saying - winning the battle and losing the war - that is where my beloved TDP is at this critical juncture in AP politics.
As many of you - I have been following the happenings in the state with great curiosity - and have been privileged to know some intricate workings in the party. I will summarize my opinion in on the party and its current leader in a few bullets ( this is a summary with no examples)
1) TRUST: This has always been an issue with CBN and is on the forefront again. The cadre from the ground-level to the lobbyist do not trust him at the personal level as well as the leader of the party. If there is a secret ballot - where your identity is protected - he will be voted out by 65% of the participants. The 35% that want him there- respect a) either his vision or strongly believe that there is not alternative within the party.
LEADERSHIP: There are two very different schools of though on this issue. Some believe that CBN is a very good administrator and I concur - to mange a huge party base that is ego-driven apart from being age,caste and region variant is a humongous task. He has done a good job for the most part. However therein lies the problem - he is a leader because he uses tactics to motivate as a PAID CEO fo a company - but not like William Wallace or Brave Heart who believes in what he is doing. He is a sucessful leader lacking the spirit of a warrior.
CADRE: This is complete charisma and belief driven aspect mostly - but trust (see 1) in the person as a leader (see 2) pays an important role. Lack of these two essential qualities can be overcome if you are charismatic or or a good actor/demagogue who can strike the right chord ala Laloo Yadav, Mulayam or Karunanidhi.
EXERCISING POWER: I would have to give it to him a little on this front - he has his won agenda. However history has always shown that he has a coterie. The only difference is earlier he had one arranged with samajika nyayam - and now he has given up that exercise. DG, Yerram, Garikipati, Sujana, CM Ramesh, Yanamala and people are on/off depending on the need. Excercising his will is therefore a problem. The cadre is OK with his decisions( even if they are insane as long he takes them himself). NTR dissolved the entire ministry at 3AM one fine morning - considered ridiculous tantamount to political suicide - but cadre/victims did not complain as it was directly from the mind of their leader and believed that it was not executed by someone/somegroup with an ulterior motive.
CURRENT SITUATION: The above four are FUNDAMENTAL TRAITS - that will have an long term impact. TD might pull of an upset by downing PRP and Congress - but the polity and ideology of it leader CBN has been exposed even to the common man - what was a close knit secret - later became an party secret and is now public knowledge. So we might win the election but the party needs a leadership change - a person who can get you victory is not necessarily a leader who the cadre is happy with and trust.
DISSIDENTS: In making a choice for a candidate CBN is adopting a CEO stand of non-negotiation in this exercise ignoring the fact that the dissidents might create a dent. TDP in 1983/85 - 2004 talked to dissidents were provided alternatives and were asked to co-operate and it worked because the believe in NTR and CBN was not as known to public/cadre as he is today. While the fact remains that he is not trying (a shift in policy) - I seriously doubt whether it would have any positive impact even if he really tried - as I said we might win this battle but will loose the war.

CBN for the first time by and large has done a decent job in selecting candidates. He did not
give seats to the so called coteries.
He may have done mistakes in some instances. By and large he kept some elements at distance. I hope he continues the same.

Kaani they were not the ultimate authority in their respective parties. Even ass AICC chief they had the protection of the high command - upon which the cadre has some degree of faith.
Ikkada TDP is a single person party - asalu CBN ki alternative leni party - they only option we have is for CBN to change. Asking him to change is not fair - as that is his personality kaani he has to come up with something to make his cadre trust him - right now I am starting to believe it is a marriage of convenience.
Believe me - I am not ranting like a child - nor am I am angry with a particular incident. I want the party to do its best - and CBN to be the CM - but am cautiously wary that he probably is umwantingly and unknowingly leading to party into a hole that we cannot come put of.

Including what ever happened today with TRS, I feel CBN did right things 90% of the time. Agreed, he made some bad choices like bringing Nukarapu into the party.
Also, we got to understand todays politicians are different. They want seats for their kin and friends, and dont want their contemporaries or enemies with int he party get tickets.
Look at what happened with DHramavaram. Varadapuram suri aite gelustadu. Valla internal godavala mulmga seat ippudu CPI ki vadilaru. |

TDP in 1983/85 - 2004 talked to dissidents were provided alternatives and were asked to co-operate and it worked because the believe in NTR and CBN was not as known to public/cadre as he is today. While the fact remains that he is not trying (a shift in policy) - I seriously doubt whether it would have any positive impact even if he really tried - as I said we might win this battle but will loose the war. \

I think you r wrong to a large extent... CBN might not trust others might be true... But the issue here is different...
TRS issued around 5 B.Forms more than they should have... Also CBN has been warning KCR about fielding weak candidates... but KCR didn't change.. at the same time there are allegations that KCR took money from candidates...
when these things happen, anyone in CBN's place would have taken the same decision. |

There is an old saying - winning the battle and losing the war - that is where my beloved TDP is at this critical juncture in AP politics.
As many of you - I have been following the happenings in the state with great curiosity - and have been privileged to know some intricate workings in the party. I will summarize my opinion in on the party and its current leader in a few bullets ( this is a summary with no examples)
1) TRUST: This has always been an issue with CBN and is on the forefront again. The cadre from the ground-level to the lobbyist do not trust him at the personal level as well as the leader of the party. If there is a secret ballot - where your identity is protected - he will be voted out by 65% of the participants. The 35% that want him there- respect a) either his vision or strongly believe that there is not alternative within the party.
LEADERSHIP: There are two very different schools of though on this issue. Some believe that CBN is a very good administrator and I concur - to mange a huge party base that is ego-driven apart from being age,caste and region variant is a humongous task. He has done a good job for the most part. However therein lies the problem - he is a leader because he uses tactics to motivate as a PAID CEO fo a company - but not like William Wallace or Brave Heart who believes in what he is doing. He is a sucessful leader lacking the spirit of a warrior.
CADRE: This is complete charisma and belief driven aspect mostly - but trust (see 1) in the person as a leader (see 2) pays an important role. Lack of these two essential qualities can be overcome if you are charismatic or or a good actor/demagogue who can strike the right chord ala Laloo Yadav, Mulayam or Karunanidhi.
EXERCISING POWER: I would have to give it to him a little on this front - he has his won agenda. However history has always shown that he has a coterie. The only difference is earlier he had one arranged with samajika nyayam - and now he has given up that exercise. DG, Yerram, Garikipati, Sujana, CM Ramesh, Yanamala and people are on/off depending on the need. Excercising his will is therefore a problem. The cadre is OK with his decisions( even if they are insane as long he takes them himself). NTR dissolved the entire ministry at 3AM one fine morning - considered ridiculous tantamount to political suicide - but cadre/victims did not complain as it was directly from the mind of their leader and believed that it was not executed by someone/somegroup with an ulterior motive.
CURRENT SITUATION: The above four are FUNDAMENTAL TRAITS - that will have an long term impact. TD might pull of an upset by downing PRP and Congress - but the polity and ideology of it leader CBN has been exposed even to the common man - what was a close knit secret - later became an party secret and is now public knowledge. So we might win the election but the party needs a leadership change - a person who can get you victory is not necessarily a leader who the cadre is happy with and trust.
