It was rather embarrassing and shocking news when reports came in from Chiranjeevi’s supposedly strongest areas - East and West Godavari districts. It is heard that the locals there broke into immediate celebrations on late Saturday evening until early Sunday. Folks there were said to be rejoicing over the news of the megastar’s humiliating defeat. It is said that even Prajarajyam party workers were seen distributing sweets when the news of Allu Aravind’s Anakapalli defeat was announced.
A resident of East Godavari was saying that they are very happy. They added that both Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind were selling tickets in their first election even before they came to power and if they had won they would have ransacked the state. Party workers and residents of the twin districts were saying that they wanted to see Chiru as the chief minister but now they have given up the hope out of pure disgust. One of the PRP leaders added that parties get corrupted only after a few years into politics, but in PRP, this began right from the start. Another PRP leader said that the faith of Chiranjeevi and his family in Aravind has resulted in the debacle and alleged that they were least interested to take the opinion of the cadre at any level, he added.
Another allegation is that tickets were given to “unworthy candidates,” neglecting the lists that were given by the cadre. The biggest complaint is that Allu Aravind stood as a barrier between them and Chiranjeevi and this was the main reason why the party was wiped out totally. Many say that Allu Aravind deserved to lose. They mention that he has not only misled Chiranjeevi on important issues but he isolated many leaders and forced them to leave the party. It is also said that Aravind was busy selling tickets without even checking the credentials of the candidates.
It is also being said that when the party cadre had suggested that Chiranjeevi should contest from Narasapuram constituency, he chose Palakollu. This is a good example of how careless the party leadership was when it came to the aspirations of the party cadre, they added. However there still seems to be some loyalty to Chiru as few fans were saying that the celebrations in the two districts were not right. They were heard saying that they cannot see Chiru being insulted by party workers. However, such sentiments were said to be in rather meager quantities.
With so much happening, it has become clear that the ‘Maarpu’ that Chiranjeevi has talking about all this while has happened to his image and his popularity and he seems to have lost a lot more than just an election. Mega fans are now saying that it is time Chiru realizes where his mistakes are rectifies them before he becomes history in politics. |
