YSR’s kin gets mining: What's up?
Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has allotted the crucial portfolio of mines and geology to Balireddy Srinivasa Reddy.
What is so interesting about it? First, Balireddy is a close relative of the Chief Minister. Secondly, mines portfolio is very important for YSR, as he and his son Y S Jagan have a lot of interest in mining industry in Rayalaseema. The YSR family have close links with mining tycoon Gali Janardhan Reddy of Karnataka, who owns huge extent of iron ore mines in Anantapur district and the ore is essential for Jagan’s steel factories in Kadapa.
So, if Balireddy is in Mines department, there would be no hassles in getting permission for mining in the state. Not that YSR had any problems with Sabita, but having a relative in the ministry will give added advantage!
