November 12, 1996: Saudi Boeing 747 collides with a Kazakh cargo plane over Chakhri Dadri village in Haryana near Delhi. All 349 people aboard both planes dead. The crash was investigated by a commission and the reason for the crash was put down to the pilot of the Kazakh aircraft who could not follow English instructions and therefore failed to understand that there was another aircraft in its path as it was descending to a lower altitude.

August 12, 1985: Japan Airlines Boeing 747 crashes into a mountain due to multiple aircraft failures. Only four of the 524 passengers and crew survive.
November 12, 1996: Saudi Boeing 747 collides with a Kazakh cargo plane over Chakhri Dadri village in Haryana near Delhi. All 349 people aboard both planes dead. The crash was investigated by a commission and the reason for the crash was put down to the pilot of the Kazakh aircraft who could not follow English instructions and therefore failed to understand that there was another aircraft in its path as it was descending to a lower altitude.
26th September 1997: A Garuda Indonesia Airbus A300 crashes near the Medan airport in Indonesia. 234 people killed. The air traffic controller had incorrectly asked the plane to turn right instead of left, causing it to run into high ground.
November 12, 2001: Yet another Airbus A300 crash, this time it was American Airlines and it crashed after take off from JFK Airport. 265 people are killed. The cause: a combination of pilot error and wind conditions.
May 25, 2002: A China Airlines Boeing 747 splits into two midair and crashes into the Taiwan Strait. 225 people die.
August 2008: An aircraft belonging to a Kyrghys company chartered by an Iranian company and headed for Iran crashes at Bishkek airport. 70 people including members of a local basketball team are killed.
