There appears to be more to it than what meets the eye in minister Botsa Satyanarayana banning the screening of Magadheera film only in Vizianagaram district.
According to the grapevine, Botsa has taken the decision only to promote Ravi Teja-starrer “Anjaneyulu” to be released all over the state on Wednesday. And Botsa has a share in the distribution of the film in Vizianagaram district. His idea is to make as much money as possible in the first few days of the release of “Anjayaneyulu” and as long as the craze for “Magadheera” among the youth does not come down, it would not be possible to make Anjaneyulu a hit. Hence, the decision.
The rumours are yet to be established, but the theatre managements are said to be resisting the decision of Botsa. They say the tickets for Magadheera have been booked in advance, and it might not be possible to close down the theatres. Producer Allu Aravind is also planning to move the court.

Minister for Panchayat Raj Botsa Satyanarayana today (Aug 11, 2009) ordered officials in Vijayanagaram district not to show Magadheera in theatres. He said he is also planning to put ban on statewide. The reason he cited for the ban on Magadheera in the district is that theatres in the districts are not equipped with proper safety measures and patrons are getting killed in a mad rush to get tickets. Two days back, 5 people were killed at a booking counter in Lakshmi – Srilakshmi theatre in Salur town in the district. Hence, government appointed a review committee on the theatres to probe into the safety measures. Although, he has no rights to issue these kind of orders being a Panchayat Raj minister, he did it as he hails from the same district.
This is the first time that a Telugu film’s screening was stopped on the grounds of lack of safety measures at theatres. Looks like there is a political conspiracy too. |
