The film starts with Francis talking to Saint Francis of Assisi about his own life. The story progresses with several humorous incidents when Ari Pranchi tries to get a good name for him. He competes in a local club election but gets defeated; he then arranges a felicitation for the Oscar award-winner Gafoor Chekutty, but is unable to reach the stage; he helps the needy but fails to get noticed for it. At last, he decides to grab a Padma Sri award because that may help in changing his name Ari Pranchi to Padmasree Pranchi. He bribes officials with 1.5 crore to get a nomination, but the corrupt politicians dump him. The story takes a turn when he meets a female artist by the name of Padmasri (Priyamani) who wants Pranchi to inaugurate her painting exhibition.
