why dont you take a pl/sql anonymous block -- insert into a temp table .. do the rollback
and then find out the currval of that sequence

For audit purpose created trigger for all CRUD operations.
On update of any record trigger will make 2 inserts (old & new) . Both records will have same audit ID but different log ID. using sequence.nextval for ID.

Doubt:
in case when trigger insert fails (any reason) can sequence value be rolled back to previous value. If yes how can we do that?
