As long as the conversion is not forced and people are not lured in to conversion by showing some material benifits conversion is ok..

If you look at the youngsters/poor today, what is their in Hinduism to attract them?
In Islam there is fanaticism and unity mixed with money and militancy which is perfect for the poor. It's almost like how naxalism got popular.
For Christianity the attraction is money and less restrictions mixed with western life style which could be atractive.
It's very tough to imagine that a comfortable person with few problems in life would convert. It's obviously a personal preference to convert to whatever religion, lifestyle or culture and people are intelligent enough these days to make those decisions based on their everyday life. |

Hinduism is going through a very interesting phase in our sub-continent. Over the years India went through many phases and was ruled/invaded by many outsiders.
The numerous Muslim invaders and Christian colonies could forcibly convert a few Hindus to various religions. No matter what they tried, they could not shake the foundations of our culture.
Today's situation however is totally due to our own doing. Caste system, class differences, politics are bound to take their toll someday. If you add the fad to adopt western culture into our system then what is happening now is not surprising. |
