Interest rates are favorable in INDIA for NRI's around close to 10%.
This is a good time to FD in India . But beware of private banks like ICCI , HDFC , CITI etc .. only go for Govt Banks like State BANK ..etc

Be-aware , Managers will confuse you with NRE and NRO accounts .. choose NRE if you plan to repatriate back the interest and Principal.
