as far as cutting down ur time to completion, this is how i'll do it: try doing interval training at least twice a week for 3-4 weeks before u prepare for the race. do wt training thrice a week on an ongoing basis if u are able to complete 5k in 30 mins.. run twice a week and try to finish it by 27 mins in week 1, 25min in week 2, 23 in week 3. You need to have a target in mind. leave ample time for the body to recover in between wt training sessions and running it would be better to consult a trainer and get a comprehensive plan..coz they can customize according to ur body weight and fitness http://www.sachinandcritics.com/

to build strong legs, do at least twice a week: 1. Squats 2. Lunges form is very critical for these, start with lower weights and ask someone in ur gym to check ur form. Once u gain good form, step up the weights http://www.sachinandcritics.com/

if this is your first.. you should worry about completion than timing.. if you are already a runner.. try improving the stamina but doing quick burst runs.. and taking breaks.. that improves stamina.. Patha Signature teeseysa
